The Very Best Xbox Exclusive Games On The Market Right Now

Xbox exclusive games

Players of all consoles have been battling a fierce battle ever since the console wars between PlayStation and Xbox began. The biggest issue right now between PlayStation and Xbox players is the console exclusive games that come with each console. Xbox players claim that their console has the best exclusive games with titles like Halo and Gears of War, while PlayStation players argue that PlayStation exclusives are the very best games you can play with games like Spider-Man, God of War, and The Last of Us. Well, today I’m here to give you a list of our favorite Xbox exclusive games that you can play right now!

Xbox exclusive games: Halo Master Chief Collection

Halo is by far one of the most famous video game franchises in the world. Originally developed by Destiny developer, Bungie, Halo has been a staple of the video game industry since its conception and initial release in 2001 with Halo: Combat Evolved. Since then, the game has received a total of 6 direct sequels including Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, Halo 4, and Halo 5: Guardians. Developer 343 Industries took after development of the Halo series starting with Halo 4 when Bungie passed the torch after Halo: Reach in 2010. Halo and its titular green-armored titan, Master Chief, is beloved by so many players. However, the entire Halo: The Master Chief Collection is now available on PC and with the upcoming release of Halo Infinite coming in Spring 2021, it’s a bit tough to claim this as an Xbox exclusive anymore.

Gears of War

Xbox exclusive games: Gears of War

Gears of War is on about the same level as Halo when it comes to popularity. Gears of War was one of the biggest esports titles back when esports were just breaking through the industry. The series has evolved with a total of 6 sequels including Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3, Gears of War: Judgment, Gears of War 4, and Gears 5. Gears 5 is now the most recent installment into the Gears of War franchise released in 2019 on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC. There have also been a couple of spin-off titles such as Gears Pop! and Gears Tactics. Unfortunately, the mobile battle arena-style game, Gears Pop! never quite took off and will be shut down in 2021.

“A number of things that go into maintaining a game beyond keeping servers active. Addressing issues, developing content, and providing support are critical in keeping a game running. Unfortunately, this is no longer feasible.”

Without a doubt, I’m sure that Gears 6 is on the way as Gears 5 was Microsoft’s most successful launch since Halo 4 in 2014 and I can’t imagine that the legendary Fortnite developer, Epic Games, would miss out on a title that would pull in a massive profit.

Xbox exclusive games: Forza Horizon 4

The Forza franchise has been going strong ever since the release of Forza Motorsport, the series’ first entry. The series consists of Forza Motorsport, Forza Motorsport 2, Forza Motorsport 3, Forza Motorsport 4, Forza Horizon, Forza Motorsport 5, Forza Horizon 2, Forza Motorsport 6, Forza Motorsport 7, Forza Street, and Forza Horizon 4 making up the catalog of the Forza franchise. While the Forza franchise, just like many other racing games, may not be everyone’s cup of tea, there’s no doubt that it is massively popular; As of November, 2020, Forza Horizon 4 has reached a massive 21,000,000 total players, so it’s no wonder it’s one of the most popular Xbox exclusives ever. Like Gears of War, I have no doubt that we’ll be getting a brand new Forza sometime soon, whether it’s a part of the Forza Horizon lineup, Forza Motorsport, or a brand new line of Forza games. If you’re a fan of racing games like Need for Speed and Gran Turismo and somehow haven’t played any of the Forza games, it’s definitely worth picking up!

Sea of Thieves

Xbox exclusive games: Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves is the 2018 action-adventure on the seas developed by studio Rare and published by Xbox Game Studios. One of the first major Xbox first-party titles to make its way onto the Xbox Game Pass subscription-based service, Sea of Thieves has evolved into a massive title with Twitch streamer, Summit1g, launching the game’s popularity to new heights. In the game, you play as a pirate navigating around a vast open world either solo or with a crew of your pals. Sea of Thieves is described as a “shared-world adventure game” meaning that as you sail the seas, you will often encounter other players who may choose to befriend you and your crew or who will, most likely, attack you and steal all of the valuable treasures you may have on board your vessel. The game is fantastic fun for fans of ship-based combat, loot, and singing sea-shanties with the worst member of your team locked in the brig!

Quantum Break

Xbox exclusive games: Quantum Break

Remedy Entertainment’s smash hit Quantum Break is one of the most ground-breaking games of the past decade; combining elements of both video game and television, Quantum Break follows Jack Joyce, played by Shawn Ashmore, who you may know as Lamplighter from The Boys or Iceman from X-Men. Through an accident, Jack becomes imbued with powers that allow him to control time. What really makes it unique is the TV tie-in elements as the game is broken up into Acts; in between Acts and scattered throughout the story, there will be a short mini-episode of the Quantum Break in-game TV show with the actors from the game playing their parts in live-action. It’s a really cool concept and I hope more developers look into new branches of storytelling such as this in the future.

Sunset Overdrive

Xbox exclusive games: Sunset Overdrive

Developed by Spider-Man devs, Insomniac Games, Sunset Overdrive is a wacky and out-of-control open-world game in which you roam around the world, typically grinding on rails across the city, wreaking havoc and causing destruction wherever you go. It’s a super fun game if you’re looking for something with mindless action and destruction. If you’re looking for a comparison – think Borderlands mixed with the Danger Days album by My Chemical Romance.

There you have it – some of our favorite Xbox exclusive games that you can play right now! Quite a few of these titles are available on Xbox Game Pass as well as Game Pass for PC, so you can take them for a spin for free if you’re a paying member! Let us know what you think we missed and what you agree with on this list!
