Meet Your Maker: What Are Prestige Points?
Meet Your Maker is a game that can be a bit nuanced with its building mechanics. The building UI is mostly easy to grasp, however, the Prestige factor can throw some players off. Prestige is basically a “leveling up” feature that grants builders more capacity and even gives them the chance to become a Champion Outpost. The little orange icon that players collect in this game is known as Synthite. This is will be solely needed to upgrade outposts and level up to a higher Prestige Level. Of course, the higher the Prestige, the more Synthite will be needed to level up.
Collecting Synthite can be done in a few ways. Raiding other outposts and leveling up the Custodian garners a rather healthy amount. Thusly, filling up the bar to evolve the Chimera will reward players with a number of resources including more Synthite. It is also possible to collect Synthite through Outposts as a passive income. It generally comes in 10, 15, or maybe 20 quantities, but it does happen. However, the fastest way to build up on Synthite is by grinding the hard way and raiding varying Outposts.
Now, in order to properly Prestige and Outpost, players will need to collect 600 Synthites or more. On top of that, they also need to accumulate Prestige Points. So, upgrading an Outpost is actually a two-tier system. So, what are “Prestige Points” exactly? Well, they are basically a kill count associated with your Outpost. So, the more Raiders that get fragged, the more Prestige Points will be rewarded. This must be maxed out before being able to effectively Prestige an Outpost with the required Synthite.
Build A Death Trap
So, obviously, this mechanic was put in Meet Your Maker to force builders to create an Outpost that will successfully kill invading Raiders. This is easier said than done, of course. The trick is to think like a Raider when building an Outpost. What do you look for? What do you expect? Just keep that in mind and work around it. Try and outsmart the opposition. With enough deaths and enough Synthite, players will be able to officially Prestige their Outpost up to the point that they reach Champion status.
How To Get Champion Status?
For all the Raiders out there, chances are that they came across a Champion Outpost or two. Becoming a Champion can be a little questionable for builders. It isn’t something that is just handed out, for sure. What needs to happen is that an Outpost must reach Prestige Level 5 or higher in order to become a Champion. Given that a certain number of kills must be accomplished to Prestige five times over, this is a good indication that this particular Outpost will be quite brutal. It just simply comes with the territory.
How High Can Prestige Get?
As of right now, the highest Prestige an Outpost can achieve is Level 10. Since Meet Your Maker is very much a live-service game, there will be constant changes and tweaks being made throughout the coming months. Maybe the developers will implement a no-cap feature for Prestiging in the future. Only time will tell when it comes to this. It will be a good way for builders to work on their outpost to their heart’s delight, for sure. Now, every outpost comes with a meter that signifies how much Genmat it has. Once it runs dry, the outpost will become inactive. In order to reactivate it, just use Synthite to make it active again. It will cost up to 600 Synthites to make this happen.
Genmat Meter And Prestiging
However, doing this won’t guarantee that the Outpost will reach the next Prestige Level. This is some confusion about this. No, instead Prestige Points must be fully built up. When this happens, use the 600+ Synthites to both refill the Genmat meter and successfully graduate the Outpost. There will be cases in that builders will need to spend a hefty amount of Synthites just to refill the Genmat and not even Prestige it. Apparently, Prestiging is a slow process that will take some time to build up. This is why it’s important to make one’s Outpost as deadly as possible. So, it will speed up the process.
Try Using Boosts
For all the players out there who are pressed for time and can’t spend all night grinding, there is a way to speed everything up. The advisors over in the Sanctuary all have boosts available. These can double the earnings from everything to cells to yes, even Prestige Points. They all cost a certain amount of different resources. In this particular instance, it will be best to focus on two particular boosts to help out with Prestiging Outposts.
Power and Glory
- This will be available at Metamorph. This will help increase the earnings for Prestige Points.
Strip Mine
- This boost can be purchased over at Prota. This assists the Raiders with getting more Synthite.
The thing is that these boosts come with a time limit. Something along the lines of under ten minutes. So, if a Raider is in dire need of some resources, and they feel lucky, then purchasing a boost or two can certainly help. Additionally, in the building menu, there is an Overdrive option available. With every kill, builders will get additional points. However, if Raiders successfully clear the Outpost, then builders can lose Genmat even faster.
Conclusion
When it comes to maintaining Outposts, there are some nuances in Meet Your Maker that can be overlooked. Given that this game is relatively new, there is quite a bit to learn regarding its mechanics. Once everything is mastered, Outposts will run like a well-oiled machine. It will be interesting to see what other traps and decor the developers will bring in the near future. Meet Your Maker is now available for Playstation, Xbox, and PC.
