The 10 Studliest TV Characters of the 80s

Forgive me if the title of this article is a little too… you know.  Still though, even a man can appreciate a badass character in any era.  And if there’s one decade that carried a full box of cheese it would have to be the 80s.  From the outfits to the theme songs to the outrageous lines these guys got to sport, it was one hell of a time.

And I guess this amount of cheesiness was an alluring quality to many young women during this time.  When you look back you realize how absolutely awesome some of these shows and characters were.

Speaking of which, here are 10 of the studliest TV characters of the 80s.

Magnum P.I.

Admit it, when it comes to awesomeness you really can’t compete with Tom Selleck’s mustache in the 80s.  It’s impossible.  Not to mention it’s quite difficult to compete with that Tigers hat and the Ferrari.   TV characters didn’t get more studly than Mr. P.I.

James “Sonny” Crockett

I’m pretty sure there was no more a prevalent halloween costume or copied look in the 80s than of James Crockett, the kick ass Miami cop played by Don Johnson.  Personally I wish this look were still in but I guess we can’t always get what we want.

B.A. Baracus

I thought long and hard about this one and honestly you could probably pick any member of the A-Team here but let’s face it.  Mr. T is the epitome of studly back in the 80s.  From Wrestlemania to Rocky III he’s just all man.  Cap that with Baracus and he’s unstoppable.

Tony Micelli  (First few seasons)

Just remember it’s the first few seasons because as he got older he turned more into a softy.  But remember the first few seasons of Who’s the Boss?  Tony Danza was the badass Brooklynite hitting the speedbag and being the tough guy of the Connecticut suburbs.  Sure he was a housekeeper but come on.  He was a stud.

Remington Steele

Before Pierce Brosnan was really Pierce Brosnan he played a TV character named Remington Steele.  I’m going with the name as the sole reason he’s on this list.  I mean come on.  His last name is Steele.  That’s gotta count for something.

Officer Tom Hanson

Can you not just hear the 21 Jump Street theme song in your head?  Having a baby face and playing a high school cool guy is definitely considered studly in the 80s.  Johnny Depp’s for foray into greatness.

Michael Knight

If I could vote a machine onto this list clearly it would be Kit but since I can’t I’ll have to go with the driver.  Plus it’s Hasselhoff.  Come on.  Like I’d ever leave him out?

Macgyver

Anyone who can make a bomb out of some butter and a plastic knife deserves a spot on this list.

Luke and Bo Duke

The pair deserved to be in here and count as one.  When you look back on this show, how unbelievable stereotypical was it?  Wow.  Talk about making fun of rednecks.  Two guys that wear Jeans, have a hot sister, and mess with the law with their car?  They never leave town?  How is this possible?

Bobby Ewing

You can’t mess with Patrick Duffy in the 80s.  You really can’t.
