Our Picks for the Top 10 PlayStation Exclusives

PlayStation Exclusives: God of War

The console war between Xbox and PlayStation fans has been going on ever since the release of both consoles years ago. Both consoles have their own exclusive titles as well as their own services to offer these titles to more players, but does the Xbox lineup compare to the vast library of PlayStation exclusives? Well, I’m not going to try and convince you that one console is better than the other; considering I play all consoles, I don’t really have an opinion either way. What I will try to convince you about is the quality of these PlayStation exclusives and tell you which ones I think are some of the best options. So, let’s get right into it then and find out our picks for the top 10 PlayStation exclusives on the market!

10. MotorStorm Apocalypse

I’m not too sure if many people would pick a MotorStorm game to be on a list of the 10 best PlayStation exclusives, but I’m putting it here anyway. When I was a kid, back before I even had a job or any source of income, I had a PS3. I couldn’t buy any games, so most of the time I would browse the PS Store for any new free demos that I could find. I stumbled upon MotorStorm Apocalypse and decided to try it out. I fell in love with it. My brother and I would make up backstories for the drivers and whenever we would crash, we would make a whole deal about it; it was great. Anyway, with that little anecdote out of the way; MotorStorm Apocalypse is a pretty good game.

9. Demon’s Souls

The original Demon’s Souls game released in 2009; the game was very popular, so much so that Sony Interactive Entertainment remade the FromSoftware action game in 2020 for the PS5. Demon’s Souls is an action role-playing game initially developed by FromSoftware released in Japan in February 2009, in North America in October 2009, and PAL territories in June 2010. The PlayStation exclusive Dark Souls-esque (“soulslike”) offers many more bosses with much more skill and strategy required to take them down than Dark Souls.

8. Bloodborne

Bloodborne is another popular PlayStation exclusive title similar to Demon’s Souls. Bloodborne is another action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware, the same developer of the first entry in this list, Demon’s Souls. This is by far one of the most popular PlayStation titles of all time and you don’t even need to purchase the game to play it! Bloodborne is available as part of the PS Now game-subscription service. As long as you’re a member of PS Now, you have access to Bloodborne and many other games!

7. Little Big Planet

Little Big Planet is one of the best family friendly games on the market. If you’ve played Battleblock Theater on Xbox, the two are incredibly similar though I would have to give the advantage to Little Big Planet. The reason I would give the advantage to Little Big Planet over Battleblock Theater is simply due to Sackboy being the best; he’s even got a standalone game now known as Sackboy: A Big Adventure.

6. Shadow of the Colossus

Shadow of the Colossus is another popular PlayStation exclusive; it was initially released in 2005 developed by Team Ico and Sony Interactive Entertainment. Shadow of the Colossus was also remade in 2018 for the PlayStation 4, developed by Bluepoint Games and again published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The remake has rebuilt the game’s assets from the ground up while also retaining the original gameplay with a revamped control scheme.

5. Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima is one of the most recent titles on this list. Released in 2020, Ghost of Tsushima was the developers of the Infamous games, Sucker Punch Studios, and was a near-winner of the 2020 Game of the Year Award at The Game Awards. The game is an action-adventure game that puts you in the shoes of a samurai named Jin Sakai who must defend Tsushima during the first Mongol invasion of Japan.

4. The Last of Us / The Last of Us Part II

The Last of Us is arguably the most famous PlayStation exclusive title in recent history, with the 2020 sequel, The Last of Us Part II, actually taking home the Game of the Year award at the 2020 Game Awards. I’m sure a lot of people reading this would expect to see this at #1, but we’ve still got a few more titles to go through before we get there.

3. Uncharted

The first Uncharted game released in November, 2007 and has been a staple of the PlayStation library ever since. The games follow Nathan Drake as he searches for relics of ancient ages much like Indiana Jones. Uncharted is so popular, in fact, that it currently has a blockbuster movie starring Tom Holland due to be in theaters at some point in the future – if they would stop delaying it.

2. God of War

The God of War series began in 2005 on the PlayStation 2 and has grown into one of the biggest video game franchises in the world. This expansion has brought Kratos, the main protagonist from the God of War series, into Fortnite as his own purchasable skin bundle. What truly boosted the popularity of the series was the 2018 reboot that put Kratos into a role in Norse mythology rather than his typical Greek mythology. God of War (2018) was so popular that it won the Game of the Year award in 2018.

1. Marvel’s Spider-Man

Coming in at #1, we’ve got Marvel’s Spider-Man for the PlayStation 4. Released in 2018 alongside God of War, Spider-Man was one of the most anticipated games of the year. I still love playing Spider-Man and it’s remaster/expansion, Spider-Man: Miles Morales that is optimized for PlayStation 5, but also available on PlayStation 4 is also fantastic.
