Benny and I Discuss E3, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo

Thanks to those of you who tuned in for my live podcast with Benny last night where we talked about E3 and the big three for nearly an hour and a half. Above you’ll find the recording of our broadcast if you missed it live, which I’m assuming is most of you.

YES, I know we had some sound issues. I’m quiet, and Benny’s loud, but if you turn up the volume to a certain point, you should be able to at least hear both sides of our conversation. Don’t worry, we’ll have it fixed for next time, and are planning on making this something of a more regular thing.

The highlights are analyzing why exactly it was that everyone was heralding Sony as the winner over Microsoft, and we really did try to answer each and every one of the questions you guys submitted, in some form or another. Check out it above.

  1. Did Benny actually gasp when Paul said Destiny was generic? And how funny is it that Tassi’s cell phone buzzing was louder than his voice? Maybe he should have put the cell up to the mic and called it from the other room to do this.

Pssh. 100 games and you didn’t even discuss 50 of them? FAIL! Nah, good job, you two. The technical stuff wasn’t really an issue and you guys did a good job keeping the conversation perpetual and interesting. That’s a long time to talk with no dead air. A lot of great commentary too. And sorry, Benny, I’m turning you in for buying pirated games. It’s worse than murder.

I’m pretty surprised by the amount of people defending Microsoft. They were going to be my default choice. I spent two gens investing in the Xbox and, red ring aside, the brand has been really good to me. But at this point, they aren’t even an option. The only way they get my continued business at this point is if they get Bioware to develop exclusively for the Xbone.

On the GoW thing, Paul; Judgment did really, really bad so I think Gears may be dying. Only a few weeks after the last game launched, you COULD NOT FIND AN ONLINE MATCH for several multiplayer modes. That’s unheard of in a major franchise, but it led me to trade my copy in in spite of the fact that I really loved the game.

Oh hell, Benny’s still pimping DOAX too. She cray. Team Ninja couldn’t even make DOA5 (which was barely an upgrade from the flawless DOA4) not freeze my 360 on an hourly basis with a year’s worth of patches so I’ve written those guys off for good. That shit is PATHETIC.

I’m actually kind of hoping for the Steam Box to be a thing since PC gaming as it is is kind of rough for me financially. If PS4 impresses me with great games like they have in the second half of this gen, I’m going to have to go with Sony for sure. But if they crash and burn like they did in the early days of the last gen, then Valve may be the only thing left to swoop in and save this console gen for me. Help me, Gabe Newell; you’re my only hope…

Props, you two. This was good stuff.
