Although drama and comedy are two of the most popular genres in British TV, in the recent past it’s launched a variety of critically acclaimed shows in other genres as well which we will cover in this blog.

Since some of the shows below are available on BBC iplayer only which is restricted for users outside of Britain, you may want to visit this website which can you find a good VPN for accessing the geo-restricted content easily.  Now that we have got that out of the way, let’s get started!

The Woman in White

The Woman in White a drama series based on a Walkie Collin’s novel that shares the same title. It’s a tale about Walter Hartright, a teacher who comes across a woman who has escaped from a lunatic asylum. The story unfolds as he finds a job as a drawing master in Cumbria but soon gets smitten with one of the students there. He also learns about a connection between her family and the woman’s haunting past. Overall, the series is gripping, emotional, and packed with entertainment!

Although Sherlock was originally launched in July 2010, its popularity hasn’t faded yet. It’s a three-part series that’s replete with some of the most impressive twists and turns particular to the crime genre that make it a true classic. Even if you have read the original Sherlock Holmes stories, you will love the visual representation of the same as they are brought up to date into the 21st century but without disrespecting the qualities and features that make the character and the stories unique.

Save Me

If you loved Lennie James’ performance in The Walking Dead, then you won’t be disappointed with Save Me either. It’s a binge-worthy series which tells the story of a young girl who disappears and later on found with Nelly Rowe (James). He is arrested on the suspicion of kidnapping the girl although he is her father who he lost connection with 13 years ago and is completely innocent. And now, it’s all about his fight for justice.

It’s a well-known fact that no one can beat the Brits when it comes to crime dramas, and Collateral is one of the modern examples to prove that. Starring Carey Mulligan who plays the role of DI Kip Mulligan, the series starts with the mysterious murder of an immigrant and pizza delivery guy.

Mulligan gets the bottom of the crime by using not-so-by-the-book methods. It doesn’t take long before you are completely engrossed in the drama that ensues.

So, these were some of the most popular British shows that are loved by the people all over the world. If you are a fan of British TV yourself, you are sure to love these choices.
