NASA Had a Contest to Design an Anime Mascot, Here are the Winners
When NASA partnered with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, what was their first order of business? Why, design an anime mascot for the joint partnership, of course. They recently posed the idea as a contest for teens, and now we get to see the winners. The project is GPM, or Global Precipitation Measurement which I’m guessing is exactly what it sounds like.
This whole idea is sort of hilarious, sort of awesome and sort of lame, all wrapped into one, but I thought it was worth featuring. One of the two grand prize winners is above, which unfortunately does not win the artist a trip to space. The others are below, and you should check them out. Further details about each entry can be found here.
The other grand prize winner, Mizu-chan.
NASA had a whatnow? Fuck my life, the other grand prize winner is a doofy looking loli? Anime just became at least 25% less cool. The government ruins everything.
Exceptional read, I recently passed this particular onto a colleague who had previously been doing a minor research with that. And he actually bought myself lunch because I found it for him grin So allow me to rephrase that.
Soooooo NASA, The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, did a contest for an anime mascot, and NONE in the top where of anything Gundam like? WTF?
