Movie Recommendation of the Week: The Color of Money

I feel like I’ve been on a “good movie” run for a while now with the weekly recommendations.   I mean I love to bring you guys the crappy movies that you have to see.   However, I know there are tons of movies from the 80s and 90s that simply deserve to be recommended.   And that’s where The Color of Money comes in.

Lots of people don’t know The Color of Money is a follow up to the classic movie The Hustler which starred Paul Newman and Jackie Gleason.  Newman played a cocky, confident, amazing pool playing Hustler.   Long story short, in that movie he winds up messing with the wrong people and is “banned” from every hustling and playing pool again.

Fast forward 30-40 years and Fast Eddie Felson (Newman’s character) is back on the scene only this time he’s mentoring a young buck Vincent Lauria (Tom Cruise) to be a big time hustler.  Only Lauria doesn’t know that he himself is being hustled.

It’s a fantastic movie and is directed by Martin Scorsese.   I highly recommend you guys see it.   Trailer is after the jump….

Definitely one of the weirder roles for Cruise (other than Tropic Thunder).  Great flick.
