Seven of the Freakiest “Children’s” Commercials

If there’s one thing that we as adults don’t fully understand, it’s how to fully get through to children.  I mean on the one hand if you offer them ice dream they’ll listen to you.  On the other if you plop them in front of the television to watch freaky teletubby stuff they turn into zombies.

So you can imagine that advertising can’t be all that easy.  And in the many years children have been pitched products on TV there have been plenty of screw ups.

These screw ups just happen to have scarred me for life…..

This Laugh is NOT a Joke

Holy lord this is scary.  First of all, are they TRYING to emulate the exorcist?  Second of all something tells me that the movie Child’s Play was solely based on this commercial.  I’m pretty sure, no I’m positive that I’m going to have multiple nightmares tonight.  Wow.

Wait for it….Wait for it….

OK we all know that the Wendy herself is a little freaky but just how freaky is she?  She’s scary enough so at the end of the commercial she will subliminally give you one of the most evil looks known to man.  No wonder I’m addicted to their nuggets.

Humpy Dumpty Sat on My Dreams

Seriously this is my reaction.  a;ldkj;aoiwejufa;kjg;alkjg;oaiwejf;alj!   Any questions?

PS3 Baby Commercial

I couldn’t describe my reaction to this commercial better than someone else did so I’m just gonna share it right here:  “In this commercial Sony explicitly dictates its intentions: it wants to grab children at a young age and force them to worship their game playing monolith that is the PS3 with demonic fervor. If your consciousness hasn’t already been captured by the game system, then this advertisement will do plenty to forcibly stamp itself upon your mind.”

Nintendo Hypnosis

OK I can’t beat you!  I give up!  Jesus Christ already.

Do NOT Play in Swampy Pools

This is a PSA ad for children?  Oh my god.  I really don’t know what to say here.  I guess the best way to get through to a kid is by scaring the living shit out them?  What is this a twisted narrative from Superman’s father?

Ronald McDonald Loves Children

So Ronald McDonald dresses up like the Scarecrow from Batman, ambushes children when they’re alone, lures them into his confidence with his “magical hamburgers.”  Now that’s how you advertise.

  1. The ones with dolls (including Humpty Dumpty) are creepy. The drowning PSA one, however, is quite…disturbing and very Friday the 13th, Halloween-ish. I hope it really wasn’t aimed at children because that one is the $#!& of nightmares! Wow!
