Evil Dead: The Game – Blacksmith Survivor Guide
Evil Dead: The Game has been adding characters to its roster that are not only well-known but also obscure. The Blacksmith from Army of Darkness was such a requested character and the developers decided to add him into the mix. He belongs to the Support Class and he comes with some rather unique features. Not only is he tough, but he can also craft items for his teammates. This is something that no other character can do. He is the master of melee weaponry. The trade-off here is that he cannot use ranged weapons very effectively. So, for players that like to hang back and pop off some shots, The Blacksmith might best be ignored.
As for the other players that like getting their hands dirty, then he can be right up their alley. He can come with faster melee attacks, along with more damaging strikes. Furthermore, The Blacksmith is the only character in Evil Dead: The Game that collects metal scraps. These are used to forge higher-tiered weapons for teammates. Metal scraps can be found pretty anywhere throughout the map. No different than finding ammunition or amulets strewn about. Having Shemp’s Cola is always a good thing, but maybe that should be reserved for Brock or Cheryl players. Because there are other things that The Blacksmith should carry that are more beneficial to him.
Instead, stacking up on amulets and matches might be a better way to go. The Blacksmith can withstand damage pretty fairly by default. With that said, there are some abilities that need to be unlocked first that entail buffing up on Shemps. So, that will need to be done first regardless in order to continue tweaking his build. His skills focus mainly on buffing teammates and increasing fighting capabilities. With the right abilities and perks in place, The Blacksmith can also become unstoppable. Of course, it all depends on how players want to use him. He can be a wrecking ball if built up properly. If not then he can act as a buffer between himself and his teammates using amulets.
The Blacksmith’s Skills
Rough and Ready
- Whenever The Blacksmith uses an amulet, both he and his teammates have increased melee damage for a short period of time. Thus, this can also be reusable as long as the amulet doesn’t shatter.
Tough as Nails
- This skill generally increases The Blacksmith’s health bar.
Weapon Master: Melee
- Melee attacks will have higher damage output, increased stunning, and dismemberment. However, The Blacksmith won’t be able to use ranged weapons.
Avenging Anvil
- The Blacksmith will summon an anvil to where he can forge weapons of various tiers using metal scraps for his teammates. Naturally, the more scraps he has, the higher quality of the weapon can be made.
Focus on Melee Damage First
Despite what was mentioned before, unlocking the Shemp’s Plus ability needs to be done first. This will pre-unlock other needed abilities and it will restore more HP whenever a Shemp is used. Which doesn’t hurt. After that, look into unlocking Artful Dodger and Seeing Stars. This will make The Blacksmith a little more nimble and able to stun enemies a little easier. Thus, the Weapon Master: One-Handed can be highly useful with hatchets, knives, and other smaller weapons. This ability, of course, increases the damage to these types of weapons. Lastly, Tougher Than Hell, Devastating Force, and Heavy Hitter will let The Blacksmith have tougher skin and dish out more damage.
Secondly, Try Buffing Up Fear Resistance
So, after the melee aspect of The Blacksmith has been worked on, it is recommended to tinker with his fear build. So, Fear No Evil is a good place to start. This will slow down his fear meter during a match. As a precursor, unlocking the Life Long Batteries ability will also come in handy to prevent that pesky flashlight from going dead during the middle of a match. Thus, the Reinforced Amulet ability will give The Blacksmith some more protection and some added juice to his Rough and Ready skill. It might be a good idea to use the Deeper Pockets for the amulets for The Blacksmith. This ability isn’t really useful for any other character except Pablo and it’s recommended for The Blacksmith, as well.
Lastly, Build Up The Blacksmith’s Health
After everything else is in place, look into buffing up The Blacksmith’s health meter. There are a few abilities to use that can let The Blacksmith become a medic of sorts. One, in particular, is the First Aide ability. This will give fallen teammates a little extra health whenever they are revived. Also, the Deeper Pockets: Shemps Cola ability will enable The Blacksmith to carry extra cans to share with his teammates if need be. Thus, the Packing Pop ability will give The Blacksmith one extra can of Shemps at the beginning of every match. Finally, Industrial Strength ability will let The Blacksmith have more health. When this is stacked on top of his Tough As Nails skill, then The Blacksmith can be like a Tonka Truck of Death steamrolling over the Deadites. Collecting Shemps isn’t really The Blacksmith’s prime concern. However, having one or two at his disposal can really help him out in a pinch.
Conclusion
A well-built Blacksmith can be the backbone of a competent team in Evil Dead: The Game. It will take a few matches to get the XP needed to start unlocking some perks, of course. However, once players lean on his melee and amulet abilities, then he can easily carry the team to victory. He is one character that should be played more often with players that like to dwell in the Support Character roster. Evil Dead: The Game is now available on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
