A meme “is an idea, behavior or style that spreads from person to person within a culture.” An example of a meme outside of the internet would be “Whassaaaaaaaaaaap” from the late 1990s/early 2000s. While those generated pictures above may be a form of meme, don’t mistake the pictures themselves for memes.
