“That Guy” Actor of the Week: Larry Hankin
The man has been onscreen in one way or another since 1965. I’ll always remember him as the guy that played Kramer on Seinfeld but that’s limiting Larry Hankin to just one role. The man has over 135 credits to his name and I can honestly say I never even bothered to look up his name until recently.
Recently meaning I just saw Billy Madison and loved Hankin as Carl. He’s never really had any big parts but he always seems to appear in something whether it’s on the big screen or television. And it’s tough not to recognize his birdlike face.
If you’ve ever seen Escape From Alcatraz it’s about the only time I’ve ever seen him look “normal.” I’m sure directors put an end to that quickly as “weirdness” suits Hankin quite well. In any event I just wanted to pay respects to a man that’s been around the business for a long time. He’s still only 60 years old so hopefully we’ll get some more strange roles out of him.

Fast forward to minute 3. Stealing the box of raisins!
This guy is great. He appears as “Mr. Man” in the old Showtime series “Faerie Tale Theater” in the Three Little Pigs episode. His scene with Jeff Goldblum (the big bad wolf) is amazing.
He didnt play Kramer on Seinfeld. That is Michael Richards, you boob.
He played Kramer in the mock Seinfeld show on Seinfeld. Yes, Michael Richards is the real Kramer, but Larry Hankin was Kramer for an episode or two when Seinfeld was mocking itself. Getty up!
It’s Gitty up and come on buddy. Of course we knew that!
He played Kramer in the pilot episode pf “Jerry” and it is giddy up
