Time for You to Watch Clone High

clone high

Way, way back in 2002, I was in high school and introduced to a show called “Clone High,” a program that has stayed with me ever since. It’s one of those “killed too soon” shows, but one you won’t normally hear alongside Freaks and Geeks and Arrested Development (do we have to take that off the list now?).

The premise alone was worth tuning in for. The government wanted to raise a new generation of leaders for the world, so they cloned famous historical figures, and sent them all to high school together. The cast includes a gawky Abe Lincoln as the star with Gandhi as his spastic friend. Joan of Arc is the emo girl who wants Abe, but Abe wants the school hottie, Cleopatra, who is dating school jockdouche, JFK. Tons of other historical figures make appearances as well, and the show is littered with hidden history jokes.

Honestly, even though it’s been a decade since I first watched it, I still find Clone High hilarious, and wish they made more. Fortunately, someone has decided to put the entire series on YouTube, and now you too can watch it if you never got the chance. Which I assume is most of you. It may not be for everybody, but in this age of Adventure Time animation randomness, I think it still works well. The episodes are all embedded below once you get through the pilot. Give it a few before passing judgement.

  1. Im from Mexico. I watched this show in Adult Swim LA. And it was fun. But the pain of not knowing what happend after the season final… that was not cool at all…

  2. The pre-empting and cancelation of this show went in this order:
MTV attempting to be a news channel at night for 2 weeks covering the Afghanistan War
MTV not caring at all about the Afghanistan War and switching to Spring Break coverage for another 2 weeks
MTV committing a crime against humanity by giving the Clone High time slot to Ashton Kutcher’s Punk’d
