Hey folks, welcome to This Week in Movie Trailers!

Well, here we are at last: the end of the week. How is everyone doing, anyway? Tired? Beat? I bet you guys worked really hard and definitely need a break, so sit back and relax with some movie trailers! I know I’m going to enjoy watching them; there are some biggies this week … and maybe a few stinkers too. Definitely.

Jack Ryan: Dark Recruit

I love the Tom Clancy movies (RIP) and I’m a big fan of the Jack Ryan character; mainly because he’s just a normal guy put in unreal situations. He’s not a warrior. This trailer does not give me the Tom Clancy/Jack Ryan vibe, however. It just seems like a generic action/thriller with a silly plot; though to be fair, pretty much nothing is given away. Maybe the next trailer will be better? Maybe Chris Pine is part of the problem? I don’t know! Too early to tell.

Didn’t see the first one, won’t see the second one. Also, I don’t like Jesse Eisenberg’s voice.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

“We have been blind in our blindness” I’m not sure what that means but it sounded cool coming from good ol’ Gandy.  Anyway, I think I liked the first Hobbit film a lot more than most people. It was fun, I cared about the characters, and it was fantastic acting. This looks like it’s heading more towards a serious and darker tone, so I’m excited but worried at the same time. If that makes sense? Anyway, I am very much looking forward to seeing this in theatres! Maybe a few times? Who knows! It’s Christmas! Also, Benedict Cumberbatch voice porn.

That was a good song! Maybe a good movie? I don’t know.

The Nut Job

I know that I said I like heist movies, but nah, not this one. Looks like your run of the mill, mediocre animated feature. Speaking of animated films, did you know 2014 will be the first year since Cars that Pixar won’t be releasing a yearly movie? Crazy! Still waiting for The Incredibles 2.

Cottage Country

Woa. I can’t tell if this is a comedy, dark comedy, serious horror, or horror comedy? I’ll just call it a darkhorredy.  I think I might check this out, though!

I sent this trailer to a friend yesterday and he responded with “I’m kinda bored of Jackie Chan movies” and I replied “What!? This trailer is crazy fun; I’m bored of YOU!” That might have been a little harsh but it was probably true anyway. Jackie Chan is 59 years old and he still doing these crazy things? Yeah, he may be attached to a few cords here and there, but he’s still in insane shape for his age! This movie looks really fun and I am going to definitely check it out. But what the heck is he wearing at near of the trailer?? It’s freaking me out!

  1. Goddamn,that Cumberbatch voice. I’m also really excited about Desolation of Smaug,and curious,since this is the movie that wouldn’t exist had it not been a trilogy.

  3. What you’re referring to in the CZ12 trailer (if I understand your fragmented sentence correctly) is a version of Jean-Yves Blondeau’s roller suit.
