The Five Best Zombie Video Games To Play With Friends

Zombie games have been seeing a recent flux in popularity. There are some that choose to go the survival horror route and throw you into a zombie world by yourself and there are some that allow you to bring some friends to the battle. We’re here to highlight the ones that allow you to bring your friends. Because it’s always more fun to survive the zombie apocalypse when you have a few friends with you. These are the five best zombie video games to play with friends.

Dying Light

Dying Light puts you in the shoes of a small quarantined town that has been hit by some sort of chemical that turns dead people into highly aggressive and dangerous beings. Not only is the gameplay a ton of fun, but it allows you to play the entire campaign with up to three other friends. This means that you and your friends can all enjoy exploring the zombie infest open-world of Dying Light. It’s pretty surprising just how much you can do with yourself in Dying Light. You can go and rid all the camps off zombies and unlock new fast travel locations. You can farm some skill missions to level up your character’s attributes. You can even just parkour around the world and fly around with the grappling hook. All while your friends are right behind you.

Synopsis: “Rove an infected world where only the strongest will make it. Master your combat skills to fight monsters of all kinds, both human and the undead. Parkour through the roofs, craft weapons and help other survivors while you’re confronting your nightmares. Now you can enjoy Dying Light to the fullest with the richest version of the acclaimed open-world zombie survival game. Containing four DLCs and seventeen skin bundles, Dying Light: Platinum Edition brings together everything you need to explore all the post-apocalyptic world has to offer. Drive across Harran, as you spread carnage in your buggy, face and survive Bozak’s trials, explore new quarantine zones, and enjoy plenty of new skins and weapons!”

Back 4 Blood

Back 4 Blood is an interesting title to say the least. If you were making a list that was telling you the best zombie games to play solo. Then Back 4 Blood would one hundred percent not be on that list. Why? The AI you match up with is completely abmysal. Back 4 Blood could give you two chickens and a piece of toast for partners and they would probably do about as much as the current AI does for you. If you’re in the heat of battle, fighting off a few dozen specials then you are almost certainly dead meat. What’s comical is that the AI won’t even go to revive you sometimes. But enough of that, we’re here to say that Back 4 Blood makes a lot of sense when you have three other friends to play it with. The gunplay is great, the levels are interesting, and the card system is actually pretty deep and inviting once you have a proper sense for it. Its a ton of fun to take three of your friends and assign roles for everyone. The different builds in the game guarantee everyone has a unique experience and brings their own flare to the battle.

Synopsis: “Back 4 Blood is a thrilling cooperative first-person shooter from the creators of the critically acclaimed Left 4 Dead franchise. You are at the center of a war against the Ridden. These once-human hosts of a deadly parasite have turned into terrifying creatures bent on devouring what remains of civilization. With humanity’s extinction on the line, it’s up to you and your friends to take the fight to the enemy, eradicate the Ridden, and reclaim the world. Fight your way through a dynamic, perilous world in a 4-player co-op story campaign where you must work together to survive increasingly challenging missions. Play with up to 3 of your friends online or go solo and lead your team in battle. Choose from 8 customizable Cleaners, one of the immune survivors, and a range of lethal weapons and items. Strategize against an ever-evolving enemy bent on your total destruction.”

Black Ops 3 Zombie Chronicles

The original zombie with friends king. Well for me. You could argue Left 4 Dead was here before, but Black Ops 3 Zombie Chronicles is just something special. Beign able to relive some of our favorite zombie maps and go through the story is something I loved. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not easy. If you’re planning to go through all the Zombie Chronicle maps and actually beat all the easter eggs then we highly recommend coming with a team of players that are patient and willing to accept that you will fail a lot. By that I mean that you will be at the end of a 5 hour playthrough only to be one shotted by a paranormal ghost being that’s not even a zombie. But once you do beat it, it is extremely rewarding and a dear memory to you and your friends.

Synopsis: “Call of Duty®: Black Ops III – Zombies Chronicles is available now on PS4™, Xbox One, and Steam. This content expansion delivers 8 remastered classic Zombies maps from Call of Duty®: World at War, Call of Duty®: Black Ops and Call of Duty®: Black Ops II. Complete maps from the original saga are fully remastered and HD playable, within Call of Duty®: Black Ops III.”

World War Z

This one took us by surprise. World War Z is a multiplayer zombie game that actually seems to take inspiration from games like Left 4 Dead. Its simple. You and three others need to survive the zombie outbreak and get to the next checkpoint. Its pretty interesting to see all the different characters and areas that World War Z brings. It is made after the book which tells the story of how a zombie outbreak can affect different parts of the world. This is definitely a game to play if you want to take some zombies down with your friends but you want something that isn’t too overwhelming. There is still classes in this game that unlock different abilities but its pretty straightforward and actually refreshing.

Synopsis: “World War Z: Aftermath is the ultimate co-op zombie shooter inspired by Paramount Pictures’ blockbuster film, and the next evolution of the original hit World War Z that has now captivated over 15 million players. Turn the tide of the zombie apocalypse on consoles and PC with full cross-play. Join up to three friends or play on your own with AI teammates against hordes of ravenous zombies in intense story episodes across new zombie-ravaged locations around the world. Take back Vatican City in an epic confrontation in Rome, and join forces with survivors in Russia’s snowbound Kamchatka peninsula.”

The Last of Us – Factions Multiplayer

Only play this with your friends if you truly know nothing can break your bond. The Last of Us Factions multiplayer puts you against other survivors using some of the best gunplay in any game. It just takes the world of The Last of Us and puts you out as a member of one of the groups fighting to stay alive and gather supplies. Technically there isn’t zombies or infected in this mode, but its so good I couldn’t help but put it on this list. With The Last of Us 2 multiplayer rumored to be coming out soon, make sure you understand the gameplay so that you’re not caught off guard by a rival gang.

Synopsis: “Winner of over 200 game of the year awards, The Last of Us has been remastered for the PlayStation®4. Now featuring higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, in addition to several other gameplay improvements. Abandoned cities reclaimed by nature. A population decimated by a modern plague. Survivors are killing each other for food, weapons whatever they can get their hands on. Joel, a brutal survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together if they hope to survive their journey across the US.”
