The Alternate Opening Credits for Dexter Deemed “Too Dark” for Use
I had no idea that there was ever an alternate title sequence to Dexter, as I figured it couldn’t possibly be any better than the one they have.
Well, it isn’t, but it’s still cool to see. It uses nearly all the same breakfast/murder imagery as the one we have now, but adds in a different soundtrack that would feel more at home in the American Horror Story intro and a font that would be better suited for say, True Blood. I guess creepy font plus creepy song equals too creepy for a show about something as lighthearted as a serial killer.
The current version is better, though by this point, I’m definitely fast-forwarding through it every week as I’ve watched it about 75 times now.
sadly though, this is the direction fans who have been with the show from the beginning would have wanted – embracing a darker dexter instead of the lighter and weaker version of the show now which doesn’t have the same visceral feel of the first seasons.
The dexter who tortured criminals people to death with power tools – that is the incarnation of justice that I watched the show for.
