Terrifying, Amazing, Realistic Pokemon
I’m always a fan of the idea of Nintendo making a “grown up” version of Pokemon, where the monsters are actually terrifying and not adorable bundles of fur and scales. It will never, ever happen, but we can dream, can’t we? Yuuki Morita shared my vision, and here we are. The three starters in full beast mode.
Blastoise here looks like something a Jager would fight in Pacific Rim. Charizard would make Westeros tremble and Venusaur? Well, he still kind of sucks. Dude has a giant pink flower on his back. You know that when they made Pokemon Red and Blue with Charizard and Blastoise on the covers, they were just implying to an entire generation of kids that Venusaur sucks, and it’s stuck with me to this day. Most of us didn’t stick around until “Leaf Green” was his attempt at redemption.
So Pokemon are really the kaiju from Pacific Rim?
