Remnant 2: Rise From The Ashes – Best Melee Weapons To Find

There are a few layers toward the combat instilled in Remnant 2: Rise From The Ashes. The main component of fighting enemies in this title is through firearms. Not to mention that it is also this game’s main appeal. However, many gamers who are uninitiated with this IP will overlook the fact that there are also melee combat mechanics here, as well. Even though it is not the primary mode of attack, melee in this game is a viable alternative to slaying enemies throughout the campaign.

So, with that said, it is good to know what kind of melee weapons are available and which are the best in the heap. Just like with firearms, there is a colorful variety of bladed weapons to try out. Just like with any other souls-like ARPG, there are many stats associated with these items that can be enhanced through “Mutators.” This is a feature that is essentially an upgrade for the blades under the ‘special category‘ in Remnant 2. Every weapon comes with a ‘Slot’ that can be filled in for modification. This is also true for firearms, as well.

So, it can be difficult to decipher which melee weapon is best for a build. There are a number of Archetypes to choose from in Remnant 2. With them, is a specific arsenal that is related to their strengths. Finding bladed or blunt instruments of death isn’t an easy find in this game. However, they can make all the difference when enemies want to get in close. There are a total of 35 melee weapons to find. They can only be found by exploring the map and poking around varying crevices and beaten paths.

Best Melee Weapons To Find

Atom Smasher

In N’erud, head over to the final train stop at the Terminus Station. Head down an elevator and a training event will kick off from a program. This will throw a gauntlet of different enemies, that will last around 7 minutes. Once this is complete, head straight and go beyond a bundle of cables. This is where the Atom Smasher will be located. It comes with 72 damage, 5% critical damage, 95% weak spot damage with 11% stagger. When it comes to RPGs, this game likes to mix things up and allow players to accomplish varied tasks to obtain new weapons. The Atom Smasher is most likely one of the most bone-crushing on this list, except maybe the Hero Sword.

Spectral Blade

While also in N’erud, there will be a boss encounter with Sha’Hala. To gain access to this boss, players must first need to collect 3 Seeker’s Keys and an Override Pin. Once you have these, go over to the Phantom Wastelands and turn on a console with the 3 Seeker’s Keys to gain entry into the Sentinel’s Keep. Fight your way to the end, then use the Override Pin to turn on another console. This will summon Sha’Hala and start the fight. Once she’s defeated, you will finally gain the Spectral Blade. The Spectral Blade comes with 53 damage, 8% critical damage, +105% weak spot damage, and -25% stagger.

Krell Axe

While in Yaesha, head over to Endaira’s End and go through the maze therein. This maze is peppered with pressure platforms in the ground that sink when you stand on them. They will open up a new room whenever you activate one. Upon entering the maze, head right and open up a new room. Then, keep going through a series of new rooms until you come across the Krell Axe sitting next to a wall. It comes with 54 damage, 3% critical damage, +85% weak spot damage, and -10% stagger. This weapon is a little different from the others on this list. Players can actually throw this axe like a tomahawk, only to have it magically reappear in their hands.

Gas Giant

Sometime during the campaign in Remnant 2, players will encounter a giant toad-like beast named, Tal’rotha. This conversation will entail whether or not you “should be eaten” or “not eaten.” In this case, choose to be eaten and allow him to swallow you whole. Once you are inside his belly, a boss fight will ensue, which will be against a ghostly apparition of Tal’rotha. Once he’s slain, he will drop an Acidic Jawbone. Take it to Ward 13 and talk to Ava McCabe. It will be converted into the Gas Giant. It comes with 74 damage, 3% critical damage, +95% weak spot damage, and 8% stagger.

Hero’s Sword

The Hero Sword is the most difficult melee weapon to acquire in Remnant 2. It involves completing the campaign and following a few steps afterward. Once the final boss, Annihilation, is beaten players will obtain a broken compass. So, as the mechanics of this game goes, players need “engrams” to get new weapons and upgrades. So, in order to craft a ‘Golden Compass Engram, players will need to collect; 1000 scrap and 10 Lumenite Crystals. Take the Golden Compass Engram to Wallace over at Ward 13 and he’ll craft the sword for you.

Another way to get the Hero’s Sword is by beating the Campaign on Nightmare Difficulty. After that, start a new game and, while at Ward 13, talk to Brabus to purchase the sword. It comes with 51 damage, 5% critical damage, +90% weak spot damage, and -10% stagger. This is also the starting weapon for the Explorer Class, which is also unlocked just by finishing the campaign on any difficulty. This sword is one of the most powerful melee weapons in Remnant 2 and the effort it takes to get a hold of it is worth it.

Conclusion

So, with ‘Regular’ and ‘Special’ melee weapon types in Remnant 2 to dig up, the aforementioned list focuses mostly on the latter. They come with unique “Mutation Slots” that can make them even more beneficial when fighting enemies. Players who prefer slashing their way toward victory should seriously consider at least one of these weapons. Remnant 2 is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
