5 Things We Want To See In Grand Theft Auto 6

Grand Theft Auto 6

There’s been some buzz recently surrounding the hopefully upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6, but with little information to go on we’re left with nothing but speculation and hopes for what we can expect for the next installment in the popular Rockstar-published Grand Theft Auto series of video games. With what little information we have about Grand Theft Auto 6, what can we expect for the game if and when it releases? From features such as the ability to play online with friends on different consoles all the way to characters returning from previous iterations of Grand Theft Auto and possibly other franchises, what do we want to see added into the game? Well, I’m here giving you a list of the 5 things we want to see come to Grand Theft Auto 6 whenever Rockstar decides to give us any information about the game! Seriously, Rockstar, please just give us a little something…anything.

5. Crossover characters

One thing that I would personally love to see is the inclusion of characters – popular as well as perhaps lesser-known – from previous Grand Theft Auto games. Can you imagine if we got to see Trevor from Grand Theft Auto V? Niko from Grand Theft Auto IV? Even Tommy Vercetti, the first protagonist in Grand Theft Auto history that actually got to speak in GTA: Vice City! Characters such as Luis Fernando Lopez from Grand Theft Auto IV and, of course, Carl “CJ” Johnson from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas would be key characters to make their return in Grand Theft Auto 6. I would also love to see a crossover between the Grand Theft Auto series and other Rockstar-owned franchise’s such as Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire, Max Payne, and Bully.

4. More vehicles

As with every installment in the Grand Theft Auto series, Grand Theft Auto 6 must bring us even more vehicles than previous games. I’m not talking just more, I mean new and unique vehicles. While Grand Theft Auto V definitely added quite a few unique vehicles, at a certain point I did feel like the identity of the game was lost with the addition of the Imponte Deluxo, which is a flying car. A flying car? I mean, I guess it’s cool and all, but it doesn’t really seem like something that should have ever actually been added into the game. I’m hoping that Grand Theft Auto 6 takes a step back in this respect and adds some more vehicles that are new and unique, but keep them a bit more….grounded.

3. More weapons

Guns. Guns. Guns. More guns. If there’s anything more integral to the identity of Grand Theft Auto than its famous vehicles, it’ll be the insane amount of weapons available for players to do as their heart desires. Ranging from an antique cavalry dagger to a golf club and even a musket in Grand Theft Auto V, there’s definitely plenty to choose from! Seriously, there’s a lot of weapons in Grand Theft Auto V. While there are certainly plenty of options right now, we can only expect and hope that Grand Theft Auto 6 will deliver us even more weapons in an attempt to satisfy players’ need for destruction.

2. An even bigger map

Grand Theft Auto V has been praised since its release in 2013 for having one of the largest maps in a video game. With Grand Theft Auto 6 hopefully in development, I can’t imagine that Rockstar aims to do anything less than break this record. Even Red Dead Redemption II, another title published by Rockstar, dwarfed the Grand Theft Auto V map, so it would be a shock if the map for Grand Theft Auto 6 was anything less than twice the size of the map of Grand Theft Auto V. While it would be nice to see a massive map included in this installment, the main problem I could see with it being too large is that it would be harder to fill the map with life and activities. A massive map is rendered useless and actually negatively affects the response to the game if players don’t feel that the world feels alive. Though I don’t think Rockstar will really have much of a problem filling the game with activities to keep players occupied.

1. Cross-Platform

The most important feature that I would love to see come to Grand Theft Auto 6 is cross-platform. Crossplay has started to become an expectation of new titles as Fortnite was the first mainstream title to include full-service crossplay across all systems including all Xbox and PlayStation consoles, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Android (unfortunately the game was removed from iOS due to legal battles between Epic and Apple.) We’ve started to see even more games start to adopt this feature including Call of Duty starting with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and continuing with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, it looks like all future Call of Duty titles will include this feature. We’ve also seen Apex Legends recently adopt crossplay between platforms in beta. Destiny 2 will also implement cross-platform play later in 2021 after many players begged Bungie to add this feature since cross-save was activated. If cross-platform doesn’t come to Grand Theft Auto 6, I have a feeling that it’s going to be a huge turn-off to players and could potentially hurt the game’s overall sales. Though it probably won’t affect it that much, it’s still a possibility. It’s probably just a good idea for Rockstar to implement cross-platform.

While we really don’t have any details at all about the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6, hopefully Rockstar will give us some updates on the development for the game here relatively soon. What do you think? Do you want to see things like crossover characters, more vehicles and weapons, an even bigger map, and cross-platform come to Grand Theft Auto 6? Is there anything that you want to see that we didn’t mention? Let us know in the comments down below! I’ll be sure to keep an eye out while I’m still hunting down any information I can get my hands on about the status of Grand Theft Auto 6!
