Letters to an Absent Father

Congrats Mare Odomo, you’ve created perhaps my favorite webcomic miniseries in history. Most of you will know my love for Pokemon, but Odomo looks at from a new perspective in this series titled “Letters to an Absent Father,” where he explores the absence of Ash’s dad, something never talked about at all in the game or show.

It’s a very poignant look at the character, when it could have just been goofy, and some of these comics really are just sad. It was only supposed to be a run of four strips, but he had a lot of ideas so he illustrated all eleven.

Really great work my friend, bra-vo. Check out the rest of the series after and check out Odomo’s website for more.

  1. Isn’t that the spot you find Ash (Red, whatever you want to call him), from the Gold and Silver game in the bottom comic?

Brings a whole new dimension to “Wtf is the champion doing hiding in this cave” from when I was a kid. Amazing I never thought of that.
