How to Hatch a Dragon Egg in Minecraft
There is a dragon in Minecraft. As a result, it makes sense that the player can get their hands on a Dragon Egg. Please note that doing so is considered to be a serious undertaking, meaning that interested individuals will want to prepare well.
How Can You Get a Dragon Egg in Minecraft?
For starters, the player should know that the Dragon Egg is a drop from the Ender Dragon. Fortunately, it has a 100 percent drop rate, meaning that they won’t need to kill said creature again and again. Unfortunately, the Ender Dragon is the closest thing to a final boss that can be found in the game. The first step would be finding the Ender Dragon. This requires interested individuals to locate a Stronghold on the Overworld. To prepare for this, they should make a stash of Eyes of Ender. In case it needs to be said, the recipe for said item is putting an Ender Pearl and a Blaze Powder in a 3×3 crafting grid so that the first sits in the upper left grid and the second sits in the upper center grid. Whenever the player uses an Eye of Ender, they will need to follow it as it flies towards its target. However, they should know that said item will break with several such uses. If the player is lucky, they will stumble upon the Stronghold sooner rather than later; if the player is unlucky, well, suffice to say that there is a reason why they should make a stash of Eyes of Ender. Eventually, said item will descend towards the ground, which is when they will know to dig down towards the Stronghold. Once the player has hit Stone Brick, chances are very good that they have come upon what they were looking for. From that point, they will need to break in before proceeding to make their way towards the End Portal that can be found somewhere within.
In that room, interested individuals will need to fill in the End Portal’s border using Eyes of Ender. The exact number can see a fair amount of variation. For those who are curious, the maximum number of Eyes of Ender needed would be 12. However, it is possible that some of the spots will have already been filled in, meaning that the player might be able to get away with less than 12. In any case, once interested individuals have fulfilled the requirements, they can jump into the End Portal to find the Ender Dragon waiting for them at The End.
Unsurprisingly, there are a lot of things that interested individuals can do to make themselves better prepared for the fight. For starters, they are going to want a good weapon as well as a good set of armor. Diamond is a common recommendation. Certainly, interested individuals can arm and armor themselves using Netherite. However, they should be able to take out the Ender Dragon long before that point, meaning that they might be a bit too prepared if they do so. Besides that, interested individuals are also going to want a very good bow because their enemy is going to be flying about the battlefield. An Infinity enchantment on said weapon can be very useful to say the least. Supplies-wise, it is common for people to bring Dirt, a Shovel, and either Water Buckets or Potions of Slow Falling. The Dirt is used for building towers while the Shovel is used for breaking those towers. Meanwhile, both the Water Buckets and the Potions of Slow Falling are used for preventing fall damage, which is a very real concern when people are going to be spending a fair amount of time on towers. Finally, a Carved Pumpkin can be very useful as well. This is because there are a lot of Endermen running around. If the player is confident in their ability to look away from the Endermen, they can go as they are; if the player isn’t confident in their ability to do so, well, that is what the Carved Pumpkin is for.
The first part of the fight will see interested individuals doing their best to destroy the End Crystals that can be found sitting on top of Obsidian towers. Some of these will be sitting out in the open. Those End Crystals are the easy ones because the player can just use their bow to shoot them while they are still standing on the ground. Others will be protected by cages, which will complicate shots. For those, the player will need to build Dirt towers to provide themselves with a better position from which to shoot between the bars of the cages. Be warned that being close to an End Crystal in the moment of its destruction can have very unpleasant consequences. As such, interested individuals will want to build their Dirt towers close but not too close to what they are aiming at. Next, the Ender Dragon will enter the fight. If it comes down, the player can use their weapon to strike at its tail. In contrast, if it takes flight, the player can use their bow to shoot it. The Ender Dragon is capable of shooting fireballs, which is why interested individuals need to listen for them before using that information to guide their dodges. Similarly, the Ender Dragon is capable of launching the player into the air, at which point they should use either the Water Buckets or the Potions of Slow Falling to save themselves. Better equipment will enable interested individuals to take out their enemy sooner rather than later. However, they should be fine so long as they approach the fight in a calm manner, thus enabling them to do a steady stream of damage while avoiding any major mistakes that will result in them being painfully punished.
Can You Hatch a Dragon Egg in Minecraft?
There is no way to hatch the Dragon Egg in Minecraft. This is because it is a trophy item, meaning that it is meant to show off the player’s accomplishment of defeating the Ender Dragon that drops it as opposed to anything else. It is possible to resurrect the Ender Dragon by bringing four End Crystals to the Dragon Egg pedestal at The End before placing one on each side surrounding it. However, that doesn’t actually require the Dragon Egg. If the player wants to hatch the Dragon Egg, they are going to need to find a mod that will allow them to do just that. As always, make sure to download mods from a reputable site. Furthermore, look up reviews to make sure that the mod actually does what the player wants it to do.
