Good News: Sansa Stark and Lady Lived Happily Ever After
Even though there have been many tragic moments across three seasons of Game of Thrones where beloved characters have been cruelly slaughtered before our eyes, I still don’t think there’s a more soul-crushing scene then when Ned Stark is forced to kill Sansa’s direwolf, Lady, because Arya’s direwolf bit Joffrey after he almost murdered her. It was unfair on so many levels and was the first time we really started to hate Joffrey. If you want to make a character despised, have him be responsible for the death of an innocent animal.
In any case, things actually worked out rather well for Lady. Real life Sansa, Sophie Turner, actually adopted the dog after the pup was killed on the show.
“In between her hectic filming schedule, Sophie likes nothing more than to relax at home with her family and pet dog Zunni, who the family adopted from the series. She adds: “Growing up I always wanted a dog, but my parents never wanted one. We kind of fell in love with my character’s dire wolf, Lady, on set. We knew Lady died and they wanted to re home her. My mum persuaded them to let us adopt her.”
So there you have it, Sansa and Lady are currently living in peace, and you don’t have to be sad anymore. Hit the jump for one more picture of the pair of them, and yes, direwolves are CGI-ed to be much bigger than they actually are for the show.
Thanks to Postal for sending this in, who is currently trying to adopt Grey Wind after the whole incident at the Frey’s.
