A Gallery of Pokemayans
Yeah, yeah, I know, more Pokemon, but this is truly the most impressive Poke-art project I’ve seen in quite some time. Possibly ever.
Artist Mona (via Neatorama) has taken on the project of adapting a number of different Pokemon into an ancient Mayan style of art, the type you’d normally see etched on the walls of long lost pyramids in the jungle. It’s a completely unique look at characters we all are familiar with, and I can’t remember ever seeing a Mayan pop culture makeover before.
You really have to check all these out for yourself below. She keeps doing more and more, so hopefully I’ll have another update soon.
so sweet!!! Part Maya here, nice to see us getting some rep haha. Added bonus: the dots and lines are the Mayan number system. Dots are “1”s and lines are “5”s. So if you’re confused as to which pokemon is which in the pictures, simply calculate the number and search for the pokemon number online!
Ex: in the last picture, Charmander is pokemon #4, charmeleon #5, and charizard #6 in the pokedex
forgot to mention some tricky positional maneuvering. too lazy to explain lmao so here ya go: http://ancientx.com/images/numbers.gif
tldr; symbols of different heights are multiplied by certain values
