A Fantastic Gallery of Star Wars in the Real World

1.jpg

This is by no means the firs time I’ve seen a “Star Wars in real life” gallery, but it’s most definitely the best one I’ve seen to date. Previous versions have been pretty excellent photoshop projects, but this one? It looks so real, it seems like a straight up photoshoot half the time.

I believe some of these are real photos (like the ones of Vader, the Stormtrooper and the Jawa which could easily employ costumes), but clearly all the spaceship ones are fake, though I’d love to believe someone actually went the trouble of building a life-size AT-AT and started stomping down the freeway in it. But I feel that would have made the local news.

All these images are from Cedric Delsaux.

  1. The AT-AT is probably the best, but the Jawa one fits pretty well. Part of the reason the original trilogy worked so well for me was because the universe felt so “lived in.” Except for the Imperial ships and buildings, there was dirt and grime and nature where you’d expect to find it in the real world. Too often in Sci-Fi, everything looks too clean and antiseptic.

Very good point. And that’s exactly why – although it’s not as far in the future – I loved the settings in Children of Men. Totally believable.
