A Cool (but Imaginary) Playstation 4 Concept

Sony may claim that their next console is years away, but I have a hunch that next E3 we’ll at least be seeing some hint of the upcoming Playstation 4, which must be released lest it get left in the dust by WiiU and whatever Microsoft will end up premiering that claims to have “Avatar-like graphics.”

But until then, all we can do is speculate, and one digital artist decided to invent his own concept for the PS4. Over at Yanko Design, they’ve put together a brand new system that not only looks nice, but has some imaginary specs to boot:

The unit connects wirelessly to any DPConnect TV, detecting the appropriate screen resolution as well as identifying the audio output, all in under 4 milliseconds so it’s ready to roll directly after being removed from the box.

Other features include: -1.5TB HDD, Full 3D 4K2K compatible, DLNA, DPhdmi (HDMI Connect), 3D Blu-ray (Blu Ray “DEUCE” Compatible, 3 times more data than the classic blu ray disc), USB 3.0, DPConnect Bravia Sync, Qriocity, Sony Ericsson sync, Cloud Saving, live TV, and even applications for weather, widgets, Gamespot, news, and more!

  1. Dumb design. If you put that thing vertically in a shelf you won’t be able to get the disc in and out if there’s not enough space over it.

That’s why you put the slot in the front.

  2. It has some nice ideas and it does sound like a Sony thing to make a new media format.

I kind of think there is a reason why they didn’t name the new PSP, PSP2. Maybe they’re quitting the numbers game.
Don’t be surprised if their next console is called VITA Max or something equally lame.
