What Is Zombs Royale?

The concept of a battle royale existed in historical times. In short, a battle royale referred to some kind of conflict that was suitable for members of royalty in the sense of its scale. Initially, the term was used to describe cockfights, which were one of the numerous bloodsports that were much more popular in the past than in the present. However, it wasn’t too long before the term started seeing use in other contexts, with examples ranging from hand-to-hand combat between multiple combatants to huge, waterborne battles between well-matched fleets. With that said, it is important to note that the modern meaning of battle royale is something that popped up in much more recent times than these examples.

In short, the meaning of battle royale saw a change with the release of the Japanese movie Battle Royale in 2000. Said movie was a dystopian thriller in which the Japanese government forced middle school students to fight to the death on a remote island. At the time, Battle Royale was both very controversial and very influential, but perhaps most importantly, it was very popular, so much so that it winded up being released in 22 other countries. As such, Battle Royale changed the meaning of battle royale to a scenario in which a group of people are instructed to kill one another until there is one survivor and thus one victor. Moreover, Battle Royale went on to inspire a remarkable range of media, with examples ranging from Basilisk to Fate/Stay Night. There are people who believe that The Hunger Games was inspired by Battle Royale as well, but suffice to say that is a rather contentious position with fervent supporters for both sides.

Regardless, it should come as no surprise to learn that some of the media that Battle Royale has inspired happen to be video games. Conveniently enough, these video games are called battle royale video games, though there are some video games that incorporate battle royale modes as well. Regardless, battle royale games have managed to become very, very popular in recent times, as shown by the success of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds in 2017 and then the success of Fortnite Battle Royale in 2018. As such, it is no wonder that a new wave of battle royal games has hit the video game market, with an excellent example being Zombs Royale.

What Is Zombs Royale?

In short, Zombs Royale is a very simplified battle royale game that might nonetheless interest people looking for something that they can play with minimal fuss and hassle. In fact, it should be noted that Zombs Royale is so simple and straightforward that it is literally playable as a browser game, which can be considered one of its biggest upsides. Besides this, the game is also available on the PC as well as the XBox One, meaning that interested individuals do have additional options if they desire them.

Gameplay-wise, Zombs Royale is a top-down version of what should be a pretty familiar concept. After all, the developer behind the game outright states that it is inspired by both PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite Battle Royale. As a result, there are a lot of familiar elements in it that should make it more familiar for people who have played other battle royale games. For example, it is possible to pick up weapons as well as supplies in locations scattered throughout the map, which can provide a huge boost to a player’s chances of success. Likewise, there is a poison gas mechanic that reduces the playable area as time passes, thus forcing remaining players into conflict whether they are ready or not. Of course, considering the name of the game, it should come as no surprise to learn that there is a zombie mode in addition to fighting it out with hundreds of other players over the Internet.

Summed up, Zombs Royale isn’t going to be able to go up against the big names in the battle royale genre. However, it isn’t meant to because it is supposed to be something simple and straightforward that interested individuals can pick up for play whenever and wherever. As a result, people who enjoy battle royale games with other players might want to give it a shot by going to its website, particularly since it won’t take much time at all to see what it is like.
