“Needs to Be Biggah!”

Published by under Images,Movies

I’m not sure who is crafting this Arnold statue and why, but I really hope it’s the ex-Governator himself, and he’s getting this to put in front of his house. What? We need more Hollywood stars with crazy egos obviously.

He really has lost a lost of mass in general now that he’s an old politician. I heard he’s trying to get back into acting, but he’s going to have to hit the gym first if he wants to reclaim his former action-hero glory. Don’t tell me he’s going to start doing dramas and being the intimidating dad in romantic comedies.

Quentin Tarantino’s Star Wars

Published by under Movies,Videos

I know this is sort of old, but I don’t think I’ve featured it before, and it really does make you raise some eyebrows about the original Star Wars trilogy. How was this not more of an issue?

When a New Hope was written, was it really the plan for Luke and Leia to be twins, or was that just added later? Either way, Han’s face in this clip says it all.

Wicked Cool Dexter Character Art

Published by under Images,Television

Ever since Facebook made us link all our favorite shows and movies with ACTUAL Facebook pages, my news feed has been flooded with updates from each of them which are usually some stupid quote from the show with 10,000 people liking and commenting on it with other quotes.

The only fan page that does anything interesting is the 7 million strong one for Dexter, which pointed me toward this rather awesome bit of fan art that features some of the series most memorable characters.

Dexter is above, and you can check out Lumen, Boyd, Trinity and Dexter 2.0 below.

I Can Justify Watching Justified

Published by under Reviews,Television

A week or so ago I wrote a summary of my thoughts on FX’s Sons of Anarchy. It’s a fine show, and one I highly recommend as you’ll gather if you read my review. I also noticed at the time that I was on a bit of an inadvertent FX kick, as in the last year or so I’ve discovered Always Sunny and Archer as well.

A lot of recommendations for my next show to watch came through in the comments, but one was repeated more than any other: Justified, continuing in the FX tradition.

I responded that I had tried the show. In fact, I’d watched three episodes of it a few months back. I had no particular critique of it, but it didn’t quite capture my interest enough to make me plow through all of it.

But hey, this is my job, and I’ll be damned if I can’t get through 12 episodes of a show in a weekend. I’ve since watched every episode of the series, am now caught up to the latest one, and am ready to share my thoughts.

I like it.

Simply put , it’s an enjoyable show. But that being said, I’m not putting it on my “must see” list that includes recent shows I’ve discovered like Archer and Spartacus. It’s well made and acted, but not particularly the kind of program that “hooks” you in.

Debate of the Day: Who’s Going to Win All Them Oscars?

Published by under Debate,Movies

Alright people, the time is nigh. The Oscars are here and I am jetting out of here to cover them in Chicago. That totally makes sense, don’t question it.

Yes, I will be doing my third(?) annual liveblog of the Academy Awards, and I invite you to tune into Unreality Sunday night just before 8PM if you want my brilliant running commentary on everything going on for the duration of the night.

But first, I figured I’d test the waters and see who you guys thought was going to take home the gold. Feel free to let me know in the comments, and you can see a full list of the nominees after the jump.

As for me? I went about 85% in EVERY category last year, including 6 for 6 in the major categories. This year? I doubt I’ll repeat that performance, but I’ve got Social, Fincher, Firth, Portman, Bale, Steinfeld. What say you?

Because Everything is Better with Beards

Don’t ask. Just don’t.

No, I have no idea what  would inspire someone to take a bunch of famous characters and give them beards. But at this point in my life, I’ve just learned to accept all the ridiculous shit I find on the internet and not ask too many questions.

It’s a series by DeviantArtist Vanjamrgan, and you can shoot him a message if you want to figure out the mystery, but I’m guessing it just comes down to “beards are cool.” And they are. I can’t grow an effective one, but whatever.

Check out who else gets bearded below:

The Only Good Thing to Come of “The Cape”

Published by under Images

She made a name for herself in the independently popular Terminator:  The Sarah Conner Chronicles series and now she’s taken to one of the worst shows in the history of TV:  The Cape.   Is this show still on?  It can’t be.

Honestly I wasn’t sure if anything would be worse than The Event but somehow Cape pulled it off.   Well at least there’s this picture of Summer Glau doing a split and if you are moronic enough to watch The Cape at least you get to see her driving cool cars.

Eight Awesome Movie Detectives

Published by under Movies

I’m not sure how many real life detectives have the lives that movie detectives do.  In fact I would bet that most of the job is boring paperwork.  However I’m sure on occasion they get some amazing cases and it’s those cases that movie detectives are probably based on.

And just to not get too technical, not all the people below have the rank of detective in the movie but I couldn’t title the article best movie cops because it’s too broad.   Trust me.  These guys are detectives anyway.

Here are eight awesome movie detectives…..
