It’s Hermione Grainger Cosplay!

Published by under Images

Given all the Harry Potter craziness over the last ten years and given how I think the whole “Emma Watson” is hot thing is nearly exhausted at this point, it’s becoming difficult to come up with new and innovative Harry Potter topics.

But no worries.  The creative minds of today have been working hard to give you tasteless photos time and time again.  So since we’re not gonna focus on Emma Watson herself, we might as well share some interesting renditions of her coveted character Hermione Grainger….

Enjoy the pics…

A Tribute To Jesse “The Body” Ventura Movie Appearances

Published by under Movies

Just the other day I was watching Predator and as I usually do, nearly watched the entire thing.  It’s one of those movies that even when on TNT or TBS you’ll live through it despite commercials.  It’s kind of like “well there may be nothing on TV but at least Predator is on.”

And it got me thinking about how awesome Jesse Ventura used to be in movies.  When you think about it he definitely could have been a smaller version of Arnold Schwarzenegger.  Let’s face it.  The acting back in 80s action movies wasn’t exactly good and Ventura had the voice and swagger to make it happen.  I just don’t know why it never materialized.

Unfortunately he didn’t appear in many films but the unintentional comedy and seriousness that just wasn’t serious warranted a spot on this site.  Here I’ve captured all of his movies except for one…..

The Morning Link: A History of Pop Culture’s Obsession with Human-Cat Hybrids

Published by under Morning Link

It’s one of those things you never really stop and think about, but as it turns out, society is really, really into hybrids of humans and cats. Thundercats, Catwoman, Cats: The Musical and now Avatar. What IS it with these felines?

Go here to find out.

The Final Countdown: Dreamed TV, Tron’s New Endings and Burn Notice’s Fiona

Published by under Final Countdown

Go here to see TV episodes that were all a dream.

Dallas pulled the trick first, but many other television shows have followed suit and episodes, seasons or even entire series have been built around the “it’s all a dream” plot trick. Sometimes it works, sometimes, uber lame.

Unreality’s Facebook page believes we’re in the Matrix.

We Have a Winner: Link’s Awakening Map Recreated In Its Entirety in Minecraft

Published by under Images,Video Games,Videos

We’ve featured many ambitious Minecraft projects on the site here, but none of them even comes close to what you see here, which is the entire overworld map of Link’s Awakening, recreated in full in the game.

This is an excellent example of what folks with too much free time and a deep love of classics Nintendo gaming can accomplish in Minecraft. Roman spent 108 hours and 59 minutes (he counted!) building this 512 by 512 by 104 block masterpiece, and he has plans to continue the project with a complete reproduction of the Dark World and all of the buildings, caves, and dungeons from the game.

What better way to spend 108 hours right? And the Dark World too? Come on, think bigger Roman. I want you to recreate the entire map of Just Cause. Now THAT would be impressive.

Just kidding, this is wicked ridiculous, and you truly are a devoted crazy person who deserves all the internet fame we can muster here.

Hit the jump for a video of the map in action.

Robot Chicken’s Force Unleashed 2 Commercial Way Better than the Game

Published by under Video Games,Videos

Well it’s good Lucasarts has a bit of a sense of humor, which is why they’ve employed the boys at Robot Chicken to craft the latest commercial for The Force Unleashed 2.

The spot actually pokes fun at the ridiculous plot of the second game, which I’m told is leagues behind the first installment, which was actually pretty brilliant. I was hyped up for the sequel, but alas, I’ll have to rent it at Blockbuster a few months from now and beat it in an afternoon.

But in the meantime, I really want to watch the Robot Chicken Star Wars Specials again.

And Shepards We Shall Be

Published by under Images,Movies

Just in time for 2010, we have our clear winner for picture of the year. This would have been great enough if it was two random people posed like this, but the Saints themselves? This is too good to be real, but it is.

That’s actually Sean Patrick Flannery and Norman Reedus, the former I didn’t even recognize in Boondock Saints 2 he looked so different, and the latter who now appears on The Walking Dead. It’s really a shame the sequel went the direction it did, and it didn’t actually feature anyone worthwhile getting murdered like Edward here.

But yeah, picture of the year in my eyes without a doubt. Good work boyos.

Unreal Movie Review: The King’s Speech

Published by under Movies,Reviews

It seems like every year there’s a movie about well-dressed English people from decades or centuries past nominated for a handful of Oscars. Usually such a film passes by the general public, and casual moviegoers tune in to the show to see it nominated and go “see, that’s why no one cares about the Oscars, who watches these movies?”

This year, that movie is The King’s Speech, and like it’s predecessor’s The Queen, Pride and Prejudice and so forth, it’s actually extremely worthwhile if you get over your pretentions and actually head to the theater to check it out.

The well-dressed English person this time is King George VI (Colin Firth), and the decade is the late 1930s as Britain teeters on the brink of war. But before he was either a King or a George, the man then known as Albert faced a challenge that would terrify any leader.

The Resilience of the Game Boy

Published by under Images,Video Games

We may give Japan shit sometimes, but damn, can they make electronics. This is a real Game Boy that was blown up in a bombing during the Gulf War, but despite looking like a charcoal briquette, it actually still works!

The downside? It’s stuck playing Tetris forever, when clearly Pokemon would have been much more fun. Can you still change the batteries, or is that welded shut? I think I see a power cord back there.

Something tells me the DS wouldn’t be quite as functional if it was nuked in the same fashion today. I don’t think touchscreens work after being charred beyond recognition.

The Ten Best Call of Duty Black Ops Kills So Far

Published by under Lists,Video Games,Videos

To combat the boredom that comes with not being able to leave the house because snow killed your car, I’ve taken to playing Black Ops again, and I just reached level 50 for the first time last night, woo hoo! If you think I’m prestiging, think again. Why would I want to start all over? Who cares?

Anyway, that inspired this post that I’ve been meaning to write for some time. I’ve been slowly collecting videos over the last month or two that I deem awesome, and now I have the ten best Black Ops kills I could find. Some are luck, some are skill and some are lots and lots and lots of luck.

Check out the video collection below, and submit your own if you think I missed one.
