This Could Be a New Phenomenon: Smashing Stuff Parties

Smashing Stuff

For no reason whatsoever I was messing around with search on Flickr only to type in “Smashed Television.”  I think I was looking for pictures of vintage TV’s all banged up.  Who knows.  I thought they might look cool.  What I ended up finding was this gallery of two kids who decided to take out their anger on a bunch of electronics Office Space style.

Then I got to thinking.  Wouldn’t this be a fun movement for gamers everywhere?   Like taking your old systems and video game crap that’s pissed you off over the years and throwing a party to smash all of it?

Personally I think it would be a hoot.  Gather the whole neighborhood, make a barbecue, get drunk and then take hammers and smash all this stuff to bits.

When you really think about it, how often do you get invited to a party where you get to smash the hell out of electronics?  And not to mention there were a couple of cute girls at this thing.  I mean you could really deck something like this out.  Get some cosplay girls in there.  Seriously, I’m gonna try and get this movement started.

  1. That’s pretty funny. 🙂

I might try it one day.

Knowing me, I’ll get really drunk and end up hitting myself with the sledgehammer.

    🙁
    Then I’d hysterically.

  2. “It’s old, I don’t want it any more.”  So what if maybe someone else could get some use out of it?  Just smash the helll out of it; after all, you can always buy a new keyboard (or iPhone, or monitor, or whatever), right?  And then what’s left gets hauled to a landfill, where it will sit there for hundreds of years, instead of being reused/recycled/reclaimed.

Hey, here’s an idea … next time you get a different car or move to a different house, why even try to sell or trade in the old one?  Just get a gallon of gas and a match; same idea, just on a larger scale.
