The Uncensored Crazy 88 Fight Scene from Kill Bill
I didn’t actually know this, but in order to skirt around an NC-17 rating for Kill Bill Vol. 1, Quentin Tarantino had to make the famous limb-lopping Crazy 88 fight scene black and white. I always thought it was a weird switch in the movie, but I passed it off as another “homage.”
Above you’ll find the full uncensored scene including a lot of very red blood going every which way. I’m not quite sure how seeing people horribly dismembered in black and white is all that much different than seeing people horribly dismembered in color, but apparently it’s enough for the MPAA. Who decides these things?
Anyway, watch the scene above because it’s awesome either way.
I always wondered why it was in B&W. This scene is so reminiscent of the best of the old-style martial art films. I love this scene. And the humor in the end is so helpful of the mood.
Dude, I have such a tale a lament, woe, and desire about this I should maybe save it for a rainy day. Let’s just say QT has a special chronologically-correct cut of Kill Bill including this scene and much more that Disney (who owned Miramax at the time) has refused to allow to be released. I kinda hope they die. There are apparently going to be some screenings of the cut in June.
