Seven Awesome Movies About Sharks
The Reef
Like Open Water, The Reef is built on truth. The film is based on a true story and follows a group of friends who are forced into the infinite blue ocean after their boat capsizes on the Great Barrier Reef. Some of the sharks used were animatronic (which still looks a lot better than CGI), but a lot of the shark footage was also real, and that’s part of its appeal.

“Tintorera” and “The Jaws of Death”! Where my grindhouse at!? Also, I’m with you on Deep Blue Sea. People talk shit, but that is one hell of a fun movie, and it’s a masterpiece compared to 99% of the shark films out there. BWWD is one of the most amazing docs ever, too. Why it doesn’t get aired annually on Shark Week is a mystery to me.
Great list! Just watched The Reef a couple months ago on Netflix; tense and terrifying.
