Overwatch 2: Ramattra Character Guide

Ramattra is a new tank character in Overwatch 2 ushering in a new chapter with Season 2. As an Omnic, this character comes with the power to morph into different forms and even summon shields. Ramattra can come in handy with standing toe to toe against Reindhardt and his ilk. He comes with a mix of both offensive and defensive capabilities, which can be a malleable asset for different types of players. His ‘Nemesis Mode’ can easily turn the tide of battle, which only last up to 7 seconds. Therefore, it will be best to use this sparingly.

There is no question that Ramattra is a tactical character and is a good fit for any player that likes tanks. Both his projectiles and melee attacks can dish out major damage. However, his size and speed can make him an easy target if players aren’t smart with him. Both his Omnic and Nemesis forms come with their own attacks and mastering these will make Ramattra a formable foe on the battlefield.

In Overwatch 2, Rammatra comes with a move set that is somewhat familiar but along with some hidden tweaks. Once players get the hang of him, he can be almost unstoppable. His attacks don’t have the best range. However, his hefty DPS can make up for that. To truly master this tank, players will need to know how to position themselves throughout the map.

Rammatra does the most damage with a headshot. Body shots only do moderate damage, which makes this character a little weaker than most tanks. However, his abilities are what truly sets him apart from the rest of his class. Even though, at first glance, they aren’t all that remarkable compared to other characters. It is the nuance associated with them that really makes Rammatra unique compared to his counterparts.

Rammatra’s Abilities

Block

This is a standard block, which many other characters share like Doomfist. Rammatra will cover his visage, and incoming damage will be reduced. Try not to get hit from behind, because that is where he is most vulnerable.

Ravenous Vortex

This projectile can slow targets down, along with conjuring a small energy field that can slowly cause damage to surrounding enemies. This ability is best used whenever the opposition is clustered up within a specified area. Hence, it will be like shooting fish in a barrel if a player manages to pull this off. Players can also yank airborne characters from the air and lock them down on the ground for a tactical advantage.

Void Accelerator

This ability can be used as Rammatra’s primary long-range attack. He will fire a stream of energy particles from his staff, slowly draining the target’s energy. It doesn’t have the longest reach, so players will need to get pretty close to utilize this. For the most damage, headshots are recommended.

Void Barrier

This will let Rammatra summon an energy barricade, which can trap enemies and also protect a player’s team. A player can experiment with this ability and really come up with their own way how to support their team and round up the opposition for some easy kills.

Pummel

Rammatra can punch short waves of energy blasts, with moderate range. Try to aim ahead of the target so it won’t escape the wave. Because that is the most effective way to actually garner some justifiable damage. Of course, players will need to get pretty close in order to strike the opponent. Most likely, the same range as doing melee attacks, in general.

Annihilation

This is Rammatra’s Ultimate ability. This will transform him into an almost impervious ‘Nemesis Mode’ where he can dish out some hefty damage. The trick here is that this mode can burn out pretty fast. Lasting up to 7 seconds, in fact. So, what players will need to do is get thick in the battle, so Rammatra can suck on the energy of the opposing team. This will stabilize the cooldown of the Ultimate, causing it to last forever. Thus, while in ‘Nemesis Mode’ Rammatra can also generate a field around him.

This can cause damage to the opposing team, slowly eroding their HP. Hence, during his ‘Nemesis Mode,’ Rammatra can become a wrecking ball, decimating his enemies. The problem with this mode is that Rammatra’s movement is severely limited. So, it’s best to use it whenever there is an all-scale brawl happening. Most notably, during the end of a match. This is where this ultimate will be the most beneficial.

Notable Hints

Rammatra isn’t best when going solo. He is more often used as a supporting character. Doing some massive damage and letting the other finish off enemies is ideal. Thusly, he can also be the one that takes out the opposition after his team has softened them up. It depends on how the player wants to interact in the battle. When it comes to building a team with Rammatra in Overwatch 2, he works best with; Moira, Hanzo, Widowmaker, and Reaper.

Additionally, Baptiste, Bastion, and Sombra can make effective support and DPS characters that gel rather nicely with Rammatra. He can be used as a tank that will keep the other team on their toes while others, like Hanzo, can provide backup as a sniper. Not to mention that Moira and Baptiste can offer some healing properties in the battle to help keep everyone going. With Rammatra, players can either lead the charge or simply lean back and jump in whenever there is an opening. Given that he is a tank, Rammatra is fairly flexible with his playstyle and players worldwide should have some fun trying to figure him out.
