Movie Recommendation of the Week: Crusoe
I’m sure many of you have read about Robinson Crusoe. And I’m sure many of you have even seen movies about Robinson Crusoe. However, have you ever seen Crusoe itself? I highly doubt it. This is a movie from 1988 starring Aidan Quinn. Robinson Crusoe is shipwrecked and he finds himself all alone on a tropical island. With a few tools he manages to rescue from the wreck, he has to learn to support himself until help arrives.
What you might not realize is that help comes in the form of someone he never, ever thought would help him: a cannibal. The movie is a solid “stranded on an island” flick where two complete strangers form a very interesting friendship. Crusoe eventually learns how wrong slavery is by being taught firsthand it won’t be tolerated. And the cannibal learns Western ways.
I don’t want to go into what exactly happens but suffice it to say it’s worth a gander if you can order it. See the homemade trailer after the jump….
