That Guy Actor of the Week: Keith David

I just find it odd that there’s also a David Keith out there.  Though these two are very different.   Keith David is a black guy whereas David Keith is very very white.   Anyway, let’s focus on Keith David for a second.

It was in the movie Men at Work where I really took to liking David.   He played a wacky Vietnam veteran dispatch manager working for the city’s sanitation department.  In other words he was the boss of Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez.   His character was absolutely hilarious and it was from that point on that I would seek him out.

Turns out it really wasn’t that hard and David had been around in movies well before Men at Work.   You might remember him in the movie Platoon where he played “King.”

Keith has 190 titles to his name so it’s tough to single out many performances but believe me you’ve seen him and chance are you liked him.  But just in case, he was Frank Armitage in They Live, so that’s awesome.

Here’s a great scene from Men at Work

Don’t mess with another man’s fries.

  1. Seriously, nobody mentioned that this man voiced GOLIATH in the amazing disney animated series GARGOYLES?!

Come on, guys this is probably the most badass non-transforming surrogate father figure of a generation we’re talking about.

Hell, that voice is the only reason I gave The Cape half a chance, but even Goliath and River Tam couldn’t save that trainwreck.
