“Games Shouldn’t Be Fun!” (Comic)

Lover of all things video game, anime, or manga. I'm passionate about these things and virtually nothing else. Hope you enjoy my musings!

It’s been a few months since I covered the print scene. For the last few weeks, I’ve been buried under a stack of DVDs I’m trying to work my way through before I go on…

Well…that comic completely trivializes real issues and distorts the conversation. Examining things with a critical eye and pointing out problematic issues are important and a way to improve things. And most people who do so enjoy the games themselves and hardly argue that people shouldn’t enjoy them. But I realize not everyone agrees on that, and that alone wouldn’t spur me to comment.
But its the panel on “harassment” really gets me. Whatever you think of the games or the arguments of those who point out potential issues, the harassment ladies who do so receive generally comes in the form of very sexist insults and threats of rape. But hey, lets pretend that they brought it on themselves, I guess?
I get that Unreality isn’t what it used to be; fine, things change and maybe there was a reason for it. But it’s discouraging to see the site go from posting thoughtful articles on these issues that promoted discussion and debate to a comic unfairly dismissing them.
why dont you stop being butthurt and get rekt son?
