Debate of the Day: The CW’s Flash Revealed
Jesus DC movie division, get your shit together. Here’s how your TV counterparts handled bringing The Flash to life in his own show in what, like six months?
DC Guy: “We should have The Flash guest star on Arrow. Or at least Barry Allen.”
CW Guy: “Great, here’s the kid from Glee.”
DC Guy: “Wow hey, this is a pretty good idea. Let’s give him a backdoor pilot.”
CW Guy: “Wow that went REALLY well actually, let’s give him a full pilot.”
And so The Flash was born. From guest star to his own series and a full costume in under six months. And he still can’t get a damn movie made about him.
The CW has just released the first few images of Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen in full costume. What do you think? There’s only really so much you can do with the Flash’s costume unless you wanted to completely redesign it from scratch which would undoubtedly piss off fans. I’m curious to see how this looks on screen (something that looks good in promo photos may look like crap in motion), but I’m also wondering how the speed effects will look. Man of Steel did the best “super-speed motion blur” I’ve seen, but if we’re stuck with Smallville-style low budget zipping around, that kind of sucks.
