Five Characters We Want to See in Super Smash Bros. Switch
A new installment in the Super Smash Bros. franchise has been suspected for some time. However, it is now confirmed, meaning that interested individuals can expect a new Super Smash Bros. game for the Nintendo Switch at some point in the not too distant future. Of course, this means that there are a lot of people arguing about what new characters should make it into the new game, not least because each person will have their own particular favorites.
Here are five characters that we want to see in the new Super Smash Bros. game:
Impa
The Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo’s top franchises, meaning that it should receive more love in the form of new characters in the new Super Smash Bros. game. Choosing one of the new characters from Breath of the Wild would be an obvious solution. However, it would be nice to have an Impa based on the version in Hyrule Warriors, where she was presented as being in her prime, being a ferocious warriors with a sword, a naginata, and combat magic.
Inkling
Splatoon has made a huge impact in a short period of time, as shown by its positive reception from the fans as well as the critics. As a result, the Inklings from Splatoon would be a natural choice for the new Super Smash Bros. game, which is why it should come as no surprise to learn that there are already signs that they have managed to make it in.
Mimikyu
We are now on Generation VII of the Pokemon franchise. As a result, it is time for Super Smash Bros. to get some new representatives from the latest generation to go along with long-standing favorites. There are a number of excellent choices, but one outstanding option would be Mimikyu, which is a Ghost/Fairy Pokemon that conceals its true appearance beneath a rag-tag costume fashioned to look like a Pikachu in hopes that some of that species’s popularity will help it to make new friends. As a result, when Mimikyu was revealed, there was a huge surge of excitement, so much so that the Pokemon was even featured in a commercial with its own unique song.
Professor Layton
Professor Hershel Layton is the titular character of the Professor Layton franchise, which is expecting a seventh puzzle adventure game to come out on the Nintendo 3DS at some point in the future. Granted, Professor Layton can seem like an odd choice considering the nature of the games bearing his name, but since we already know that he is capable of fencing, he is actually a lot more plausible than some of the characters who have already managed to make it into the Super Smash Bros. franchise. For that matter, part of the fun of the Super Smash Bros. franchise is seeing how the oddest choices can be turned into ferocious fighters.
Shovel Knight
Shovel Knight from, well, Shovel Knight is an unlikely choice, but it would be a nice way to acknowledge the rise of indie games in the present, seeing as how said character starred in one of the best-known games of the trend. This is particularly true because Shovel Knight made a lot of sales on the Wii as well as the 3DS, meaning that it is by no means a stranger to Nintendo.
