Fear and Loathing in Sesame Street

This post is a shout out to my roommate, who loves the Muppets more than is appropriate for a 22 year old male, and has been reading the site since it was a Tumblr blog (yeah, didn’t know that existed did you?). Though to be fair, I’m not sure he’s ever seen Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and may not fully appreciate the awesomeness of this picture.

I’m pretty sure this is why photoshop was invented, so the Muppets could be inserted into classic movies convincingly. Honestly, at the rate he’s going, I could see Johnny Depp playing Gonzo in a live-action Muppets adaption someday. Zach Galiafinakis as Animal!

  1. Please do not give Hollywood any ideas regarding a live action muppets movie.

And if you MUST, then PLEASE do not mention Johnny Depp in any way, or that’ll just get Tim Burton all hard and then we’ll be STUCK with a live action muppets movie.

  2. If you missed the joke here…

Hunter S. Thompson (Depp’s character in Fear & Loathing) popularized “Gonzo journalism”, which is written subjectively, often including the reporter as part of the story via a first person narrative.

  3. This is brilliant.

And for the record – ALL of the Muppets movies (past and future) are live-action by necessity. They’re puppets, not cartoons.

  4. I get the joke, and I realize that the muppets are live action. What I just want to reiterate is PLEASE DO NOT GIVE HOLLYWOOD THE IDEA OF CASTING HUMANS AS MUPPETS. Hell, it’s probably too late. Some smug asshole in LA probably took one look at this picture, pitched it to Johnny Depp and Tim Burton, and now we’re two summers away from Helena Bonham Carter as Miss Piggy.

    Shit. Oh well, carry on.
