How to Find Dusk Stones in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Pokemon

Some Pokemon evolve using evolution stones. Dusk Stones were one of the three evolution stones introduced in Generation IV. As a result, it should come as no surprise to learn that these evolution stones can be found in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

How Can You Get Dusk Stones in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl?

There are a number of methods that interested individuals can use to get Dusk Stones in these two games:

From the Ground

For starters, there are a couple of Dusk Stones that can be picked up from the ground. First, there is one in the Team Galactic HQ, which can be found in Veilstone City. The player is going to need to defeat Candice at the Pokemon Gym in Snowpoint City. After which, they can get the Storage Key from a Team Galactic Grunt standing in front of the Team Galactic HQ, thus enabling them to make their way into the building’s interior. Second, there is one in Victory Road. Unfortunately, the player won’t be able to get their hands on it during their first visit. Instead, they will need to defeat the Pokemon League as well as unlock the National Pokedex in order to unlock a new area in Victory Road. Once the player has done so, they will need to make their way to the northwestern part of the new area’s second room. Be warned that Strength will be needed to move boulders out of the way. These are the two Dusk Stones that the player can be sure of getting in these two games. As such, they will need to use them with care because they cannot count on getting more of these evolution stones. Fortunately, there aren’t a lot of Pokemon that evolve using Dusk Stones, so this shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

From Pickup

Pickup is one of the most famous Pokemon abilities. To a small extent, this is because a Pokemon with Pickup can pick up another Pokemon’s one-time-use item when the latter is used. However, Pickup is much better-known because a Pokemon with Pickup has a 10 percent chance of picking up a random item whenever the player wins a battle. Both of these effects require the Pokemon to be holding nothing, so it is a good idea for interested individuals to check these Pokemon for held items on a regular basis. If the player wants to maximize their chance of picking up a Dusk Stone, there are a number of suggestions that can be very useful. For starters, there are nine Pokemon that can have Pickup in these two games. Out of the nine, six can evolve while three are in their final form. These three Pokemon would be Ambipom, Linoone, and Pachirisu. Getting Linoone’s pre-evolution Zigzagoon can be a hassle. As a result, interested individuals should go for either Pachirisu or Ambipom’s pre-evolution Aipom. The first is rarer but can be found earlier. Meanwhile, the second is more common but can’t be found until later. In any case, the player is going to want Pokemon that are already in their final form because a Pokemon’s level has a huge effect on not just the items that can be picked up but also the chances of those items being picked up. Thanks to this, canceling evolution again and again is going to get real annoying real fast. Dusk Stone isn’t even a potential picked-up item until Level 21. Unfortunately, there is just a 3 percent chance of it being the picked-up item at that point. If interested individuals want to maximize their chances of getting a Dusk Stone, they are going to want Pokemon at Levels 91 to 100, which will provide the Dusk Stone with a 10 percent chance of being the picked-up item. Combined with the 10 percent chance for a picked-up item, this means a 1 percent chance that the player will get what they want whenever they win a battle. Neither Pachirisu nor Ambipom are particularly good for Pokemon battles. Due to this, some people choose to run a team with one Pokemon for battling and five Pokemon for Pickup. However, this isn’t too much of an issue because battling wild Pokemon works just as well as battling trained Pokemon.

From the Grand Underground

The Grand Underground is the updated version of the underground feature from the original games. It has six zones. If the player wants a Dusk Stone, they should head to Bogsunk Cavern, which is a hideaway that can be found in the south-eastern zone.

Which Pokemon Can Use Dusk Stones in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl?

In total, there are four Pokemon that can evolve using Dusk Stones in the Pokemon franchise. These four would be Murkrow, Misdreavus, Lampent, and Doublade, which evolve into Honchkrow, Mismagius, Chandelure, and Aegislash respectively. In the past, every Pokemon was supposed to be available in every Pokemon game. Nowadays, Pokemon games have an incomplete set of Pokemon for convenience as well as other reasons. This means that neither Chandelure nor Aegislash are available in these two games. Instead, interested individuals will be able to use their Dusk Stones on just Murkrow and Misdreavus. Both Pokemon are decent enough. However, it would be exaggerating to say that either one is a must-have for interested individuals on the basis of mechanics. Honchkrows have good Attack and Special Attack, with their Attack being even higher than their Special Attack. As a result, they can hit very hard with Brave Bird as well as a wide range of other attacks. The issue is that Honchkrows get dragged down by their low Defense and Special Defense, which wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t for the fact that they have low Speed as well. In other words, they hit hard but they can’t take hard hits very well. Meanwhile, Mismagius is more straightforward in the sense that it has high Special Attack, high Special Defense, and high Speed. It can learn Nasty Plot, which is important because that can boost its Special Attack high enough to sweep opponents. The issue is that Mismagius has low HP, meaning that it might not survive long enough to make good use of that move.
