A Collection of the Best of Clint Mansell
There are many talented composers working on films today, but there is no one that I find more spectacular than Clint Mansell. John Williams may have composed some of the most classic scores of our generation, with Danny Elfman and Hans Zimmer right behind him, but to me, Clint Mansell is my hands down favorite.
The word I could best use to describe his scores is “haunting” and he’s done some amazing soundtracks for some equally amazing movies like Moon, The Fountain, The Wrestler and Requiem for a Dream. I’ve posted some of my favorites of his below. To me, most of these are perfect “work” music, so throw on those headphones and enjoy.

Moon’s score was so good. One of the few times I’ve thoroughly enjoyed staying through a movie’s end credits.
Paul, I still hold the fact that you didn’t like dragon age against you but you just went up about a bajillion points in my book. Clint Mansell is the best composer of our generation and I couldn’t agree with you more about John Williams, he’s written some iconic and classic music but nothing I’d listen to voluntarily unless I was watching the movie it was in. The Fountain soundtrack is probably one of my favourite albums of all time and it still gives me goosebumps when I hear the build up in Death is the Road to Awe. Brilliant. You sir, have good taste.
Man, I couldn’t stop listening to The Fountain soundtrack for weeks after I saw the movie.
Mansell is, in my opinion, the top guy doing scores today.
So i’ve spent the better part of the past two hours listening to this (most of it again).
Thanks for the list.
Awesome stuff, Requiem for a Dream is definitely my favorite, I want to learn how to play it on piano. 🙂
@RobG
I stand by my Dragon Age views, but I’m happy to impress you with this, hah.
It’s funny, I was listening to ‘The Fountain’ score when I came across this.
Clint Mansell is, hands down, my absolute favorite. He’s scoring Aronofsky’s ‘Black Swan’ and I can’t be more thrilled.
@Paul
I know you write this blog to specifically impress me so well done and thank you 😛
I think to this amazing list you ought to add the soundtrack from ‘Black Swan’, especially the track ‘Opposites Attract’….. I totally agree he is the best musician of our generation – dark, twisted yet manages to touch your soul !!
Clint Mansell you are GOD !!
Sadly i am being introduced to this masterpiece very late.
I was a fan of Lux Aeterna and also Clint Mansell did the Mass Effect 3 Soundtrack. The first time i heard “Leaving Earth” and “An End, Once and for All”, If you have played Mass Effect 3 you know what i am talking about 😉
And thn i was exposed to “Death is the Road to Awe” and i became like a life time fan of this guy.
His next big score is in “NOAH” i guess. 2014.
