Summer has arrived, meaning that most people are out enjoying the sun and hot weather. But, if that isn’t your thing then there are still plenty of new games being released in July that you can check out as you enjoy being in the cool indoors. Here are eight new games that you need to check out in July 2022.
F1 2022 (July 1st) – PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S
F1 2022 kicks off the game releases in July, with it being released on July 1st. F1 games have long been a staple in gaming, with them being released on a regular basis since the 1970s. When it comes to the differences between this release and F1 2021 there is really very little to set them apart, much like other yearly sports and racing releases. But, if you’re a fan of F1 and racing games in general then this is a game that you will want to get your hands on.
KLONOA Phantasy Reverie Series (July 8th) – PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch
KLONOA Phantasy Reverie Series consists of remasters of the first two entries in the Klonoa series, Klonoa: Door to Phantomile, which was first released on the PlayStation in 1997, and Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil which was released on the PS2 in 2001. It is worth noting that this game will remaster the 2008 remake of Klonoa: Door to Phantomile rather than remastering the PS1 game. The Klonoa series is very underrated and one that passed by many gamers back in the late 90s and early 200s, making now a perfect time to jump into the series.
Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels (July 19th) – PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S
Forza Horizon 5 is set to receive its first piece of DLC in July 2022 and it will once again feature Hot Wheels. Hot Wheels first made an appearance in the series with Forza Horizon 3 and it has become a staple of the series ever since. On July 19th the first Expansion Pack for Forza Horizon 5 will be released, with a second yet to be announced. Players will be able to race in 10 brand new vehicles across many new tracks and allow players to create and share their own courses. This should be a lot of fun and a great reason to jump back into the game.
Stray (July 19th) – PC, PS4, PS5
Stray is a third-person platforming adventure game that sees the player take control of a cat as they explore the neon-lit alleys of a cybercity. The game will be released on PlayStation and PC, but will see a day one release on Sony’s PlayStation Plus service, making it a great option for players wanting to check it out at launch.
As Dusk Falls (July 19th) – PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S
Although Stray is exclusive to PlayStation consoles, Xbox hasn’t been left behind this month, with As Dusk Falls releasing on the same day on PC and Xbox. As Dusk Falls is an interactive drama with a cinematic story that explores the entangled lives of two families across thirty years. This looks to be one of the best story-driven games of 2022 and is worth checking out. As Dusk Falls will be available on Game Pass upon release.

It is without question that the most anticipated game that will be released in July is Xenoblade Chronicles 3, the follow-up to the smash hit Xenoblade Chronicles 2 that launched on the Nintendo Switch in 2017. This will mark the fourth game in the series to be released on the Nintendo Switch. If you’re into open-world RPG games such as Final Fantasy, this is definitely a series you should be checking out.
Digimon Survive (July 29th) – PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch
Finally, to finish off the month is the release of Digimon Survive. This hybrid visual novel and tactical RPG is set to help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime. While the series never quite reached the popularity of its main competition, it still has a loyal fanbase today and the games are typically very fun even if you don’t keep up with the rest of the Digimon media that is available.
