10 of the Best Rickrolling Videos

rickrolled.jpg

Apparently, the concept of Rickrolling dates back to May of 2007.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term – and I imagine it’s only a handful of you – “Rickrolling” is essentially setting someone up to watch a video clip of something, only to ambush them with Rick Astley’s video for “Never Gonna Give You Up.”  The concept spread like wildfire, and people came up with new and clever ways to incorporate Astley’s video into a variety of other media.  Even the New York Mets were not immune to getting Rickrolled.

Look, I know that a lot of Rickrolling videos are juvenile and lazy, but some are actually pretty clever.  I know that there’s a bunch that make me laugh, but I’m often more impressed with the choices people make as to where to stick the Astley video/song.  And if you don’t like that, I’ll tell you where you can stick it.  After the jump, take a look at 10 of the best Rickrolling videos I could find.

  1. The HAL 9000 one is pure gold.

I remember seeing one on live TV where one of the people in the crowd held up a sign saying “never gonna give you up” behind the newscasters. I can’t seem to find the video though.

  2. Haha these were great! Very creative! Although I do get tired sometimes when people just over do it. Especially when I’m looking for a specific clip for reference and the only videos available are the rick rolls 😛

The HAL 9000 one is my favorite…it’s very, very well done, and it does kind of come out of nowhere.

I’d love to see a video clip of that sign.

    @ Justin

    I didn’t see that one…have a link?

    @ xtheenderz

Yes, it’s never fun when you’re the one being Rickrolled.

  4. This song has been stuck in my head allll day. Thanks a lot!

The Macy’s one was hilarious. I remember watching it and I about died of laughter. My family had no clue what was happening.
