10 Notable Academy Award Records

I think Paul and I have both agreed on our distaste for the Academy Awards.  While it’s always interesting to see who wins it’s just an award show that as I’ve gotten older have realized is virtually pointless.

We see the movies.  We know how rich you are.  We know that you’re good at acting (or bad).  Do we really need this spectacle on live television to go over all this?  I’d rather a nice sheet of paper come out every year and we get to read that.

Either that or we have the public vote via texting and emailing.  That at least would make me feel involved.  And while I don’t want to go off on a crazy rant here I did want to share some pretty cool Academy Award records with you guys.

Here are 10 notable ones…..

Thanks to Listal for this info

Yeah, that’s a great idea. Then we can watch 5 Fast 5 Furious and Grown Ups rake in the awards. No thanks.

They already have that, it’s called The People’s Choice Awards and it’s abysmal.

  2. I am 100% sure that Hattie McDaniel, from Gone With the Wind (1939) was the first black actor to win an Oscar. Unless you are going by the literal definition of actor to mean only male actors.

  3. Yes, eel is right. Hattie McDaniel won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in Gone with the Wind. She was the first African-American to win an Oscar.
