Finally, Luigi Outshines Mario

Published by under Images,Video Games

Searching far and wide, I can’t come up with a contest for this rather awesome photo, but perhaps some things are better left a mystery. I will go ahead and assume that these girls were photographed on their way to a particularly lovely video game themed party, and not between breaks on the set of an adult parody of Mario Bros.

I’m not entirely sure why they have “offended French waiter” looks on their faces, but I’m curious to see if there are any more photos in this series, and if there were any more costumed people in their group. If you find either of these things and post them in the comments, +100 internet points for you.

Today I Learned Ash Ketchum Was a Girl

Published by under Video Games,Videos

It seems strange that the voice actor best-suited to voice a pre-teen boy is actually a middle aged woman, but hey, if it can work for Bart Simpson, I suppose it should be no surprise the same is true for Ash Ketchum.

If you’re like me, you grew up on the original Pokemon series, and though it’s moved on from it’s roots, you’ll definitely remember that classic Ash voice which was provided by this woman, Veronica Taylor.

Not sure what event this is at, but she delights the crowd with snippets of some of Ash’s classic lines. My favorite has to be “Ash falling down something.” Check it all out above.

The Wire as 19th Century Literature

Published by under Images,Television

I started this site after my gripping fascination with HBO’s The Wire, which I count as my second favorite show of all time (after Arrested Development). I haven’t written about it nearly as much as I should, but someone now has far more eloquently than I ever could.

The Hooded Utilitarian has written a very elaborate critique of the show, comparing it to great works of literature in the past. But not only that, they’ve turned a scene or two into ACTUAL literature, which looks and reads like the pages of a classic novel.

Those pages can be seen just below the jump here, and you can read their full critique of the show here.

The Five Most Ridiculous Movies You Won’t Believe Are Being Made

Published by under Lists,Movies

It’s no secret that Hollywood is running out of ideas. Every movie announced these days seems to be a sequel or remake, and the industry is starving for new creative concepts for films. Unfortunately, it’s apparent they believe “creativity” consists of taking something you once played with as a child, and turning it into a $100M feature.

They’re banking on brand recognition and delirious nostalgia to bankroll these ill-conceived films, and you won’t believe some of the movies that are legitimately slated for production today.

Star Wars Goes Day of the Dead

Published by under Images,Movies

Halloween might be my favorite skull-related holiday currently, but if I were Mexican or Spanish, I’m guessing that the Day of the Dead would probably take that spot.

The origins of the festival go back thousands of years to the Aztecs honoring their dead, so why can’t it go back  even further and span across to a galaxy far, far away?

Artist John Karpinsky got the idea to recreate famous Star Wars icons in Day of the Dead fashion, and you can see his results in this cool but creepy gallery below.

A Collection of the Best (and Worst) Dark Knight Photoshops

Published by under Images,Movies

There is currently no movie series in existence that inspires more fan enthusiasm than Chris Nolan’s Batman trilogy. Even scraps of information can send people into a frenzy, and in the years since he started with the franchise, fans have often expressed their feelings through a very visual medium, photoshop.

What you see here are fan made posters and images that were fashioned when certain information about the upcoming films was revealed. We have people trying to imagine what Aaron Eckhart would look like as two face, what it might be like if the Riddler appeared in the final film, and now that we know two of the villains for The Dark Knight Rises, what potential Bane and Catwoman posters might look like.

Some of these are really well done, and could theoretically be official posters. Others? Not so much. Check out the full gallery below.

Pretty Awesome Mario Themed Bathroom

Published by under Images

Remember our crazy post on the Wow bathroom?  Well I think the owner of that bathroom and the owner of this bathroom should get together and play some Yahtzee.

Seriously, I don’t know what goes on inside the minds of these people but I’m not here to argue.  In fact I’m here to marvel.  What this girl did with her bathroom is pretty awesome.

Check out the making of the Mario bathroom after the jump….

Jabba the Hutt Fan Art

Published by under Images

This is why I love the internet.   You guys know we love Star Wars.  You know we love the characters in Star Wars.   But unfortunately neither myself or Paul are that adept at drawing these characters in interesting ways.

Luckily there are artists out there who interpret and design Star Wars characters like it was their job.   Even more fortunate for you guys.  I’ve located a nice amount of pictures that focus on none other than Jabba the Hutt.

Enjoy the gallery after the jump…..

The Morning Link: The Best DLC On the Market

Published by under Morning Link

Since no good games seem to want to come out until the fall, I’ve been going against my judgement and downloading a lot of DLC recently. Yes, sometimes it’s a rip-off, and it may be everything wrong with the industry, instituting a new “pay-as-you-go” philosophy, but sometimes, it’s pretty damn fun.

Go here to see the best DLC out there today.
