Amy Adams Thinking About ‘The Fighter’

Published by Paul Tassi under Movies, News

amy-adams.jpg

Because of my massive crush on her, I’m obligated to report on any Amy Adams news, no matter how big or small. I would say this is about “medium” as Adams is considering joining The Fighter, the Mark Wahlberg/Christian Bale project about troubled boxers in Massachusetts. Adams would be playing a bartender who falls for Mark Wahlberg. She could do so much better.

I have a bad feeling at this project as it’s already rotated through a complete set of actors and a director. Darren Aronofsky left the project along with Matt Damon and Brad Pitt months ago. I would have much rather seen that movie, though if Amy Adams is in this one, I suppose I have to watch it. I mean I’m seeing Julie & Julia for crying out loud.

‘Jennifer’s Body’ Shots are Delicious

Published by Paul Tassi under Images, Movies

megan-fox1.jpg

Check out these new scans of Jennifer’s Body straight out of Empire (brought to you via Film School Rejects). Though the first one is the fantasy of nearly every male on planet earth, there are some truly terrifying shots of Fox and her co-star Amanda Seyfried (”My boobs know when it’s raining” from Mean Girls) all caked in blood and or dirt after the jump.

I didn’t realize this was penned by Diablo Cody, which adds a new dimension to the Carrie-esque movie. A dimension of too-clever-for-its-own-good dialogue and a sense of self-satisfaction.

The Pirate Bay Selling Out, Going Legal

Published by Paul Tassi under Movies, News, Television

pirate-bay.jpg

WTF?

Bad news for lovers of free movies, music and TV shows everywhere (myself, uh, obviously not included). After the recent judgment against The Pirate Bay by a Swedish court which ordered its founders to jail and slapped them with multi-million dollar fines, it appears the reality of the situation has caught up with them. A company called Global Gaming Factory X is reportedly about to acquire the site for $7.8M, and turn it into a legal file sharing site that “compensates copyright owners.”

Uh oh. Don’t like the sound of that.

“The company says that after it has completed the acquisition it will launch new business models so that copyright owners get paid, which is clearly a huge diversion from TPB’s previous modus operandi.

“We would like to introduce models which entail that content providers and copyright owners get paid for content that is downloaded via the site,” said Hans Pandeya, CEO GGF.

“The Pirate Bay is a site that is among the top 100 most visited Internet sites in the world. However, in order to live on, The Pirate Bay requires a new business model, which satisfies the requirements and needs of all parties, content providers, broadband operators, end users, and the judiciary,” said Pandeya.

“Content creators and providers need to control their content and get paid for it. File sharers’ need faster downloads and better quality,” he added.”

This is a radical move for the site, which has long given the middle finger to the RIAA, the MPAA and everyone else in the world against file-sharing. I think someone sat them down and told them if they kept this up, they’d end up in pound-you-in-the-ass jail for the next 10 to 20 years just so some Malaysian kid can download a bootleg copy of Dodgeball. And it appears whatever has been decided has caused them to suddenly and unexpectedly throw in the towel.

If this turns out to be true (and judging by the odd, cryptic message on the site’s homepage, that appears to be the case), this is a dark day for file sharing everywhere. We can say, “Oh we’ll just move over to Mininova,” but if lawsuits keep going in favor of the corporations, we’ll see all torrent sites hunted down and shot like wild animals eventually.

Let’s Face It: The Golden Girls Was An Awesome Show

Published by Nattyb under Television

Golden Girls

I just wanted to take a moment to pay tribute to The Golden Girls.   For the past five days my wife has been watching this show constantly as there’s been some sort of marathon on the WE network.  While this network usually makes me quite nauseous, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by these four women.

What began as me simply listening to the dialogue while at the computer is now me full out watching the show.  I have to admit once you get past the having to picture the women naked due to the sexual nature of the show, it ends up being pretty hilarious.

Personally I think it’s incredibly well written and each character brings their own flavor.  Blanche is a total slut, but the other women let her know about it which is amazing.  Dorothy is incredibly smart, Rose dumb and Sophia the witty yet completely irritable old mother.   It’s truly a great combination.

Honestly, if you want to see great sitcom writing you should watch this show.  As long as you can get over the fact that it’s about four aging women you’ll be fine.

10 Awesome Various Slow Motion Water Videos

Published by Nattyb under Oddly Enough

Water

Water.  It’s the source of life.  Without it, we die.  With it, we can thrive.  With too much, we can die.  With enough of these “with” sentences I can bore you and myself out very quickly.  However, water is definitely awesome.

You know what else is awesome?  Slow motion videos.  It seems that over the past 6 months or so there has been a rise in slo-mo videos on the web.  And I’m glad for it.  It allows you to see things in entirely new perspectives.

Personally I think the slow motion water videos happen to be some of the most interesting to watch.  Whether it’s a wave, a drop, or even a balloon pop, here are 10 awesome various slow motion water videos

The 15 Most Massively Expensive Yet Awful Movies Ever

Published by Paul Tassi under Lists, Movies

poseidon.jpg

When you take a look at the most expensive movies ever made, it’s quite surprisingly to see how many of them are mediocre or actually pretty terrible. I guess it’s proof that money doesn’t buy quality, but really, shouldn’t it buy at least a little bit?

I picked out what I thought were the 15 worst most expensive movies ever made and lined them up in order of how much they suck. Yes, sucking is subjective and I’m sure you’ll disagree with me, but such is our way here at Unreality.

You’ll be surprised to see that even though most of these movies are pretty awful, nearly all of them made their massive budgets back, mostly thanks to distribution overseas, which is included in the “Made” stat.

True Blood Episode 2.3 Review

Published by Madison under Reviews, Television

 trueblood_season2-10.jpg

Around the third episode of Season 1 of True Blood, things really started to get moving, and character arcs became deeper and more defined.  The same thing has happened for Season 2, and Sunday’s episode was the most interesting and exciting one yet.  Even more questions arose, there’s a lot more than just vampires running around, and we learned a bit more about some of the secondary characters.  If you missed last week’s review, you can read it HERE.  Keep reading for my full review of True Blood Episode 2.3.  As always, spoilers aplenty.

The Morning Link: 80s Movie Montages that Made no Sense

Published by Nattyb under Morning Link

Rocky

Every decade has its cinematic crutch; the overused device meant to distract us from the fact that the movie has stopped making any sort of sense. For the past 20 years, it has been CGI and in the 80s it was the montage.

It’s helpful to think of the evolution of montage-use as the cinematic equivalent of cocaine. While it hasn’t completely gone away, in the 80s it was everywhere, and filmmakers apparently believed it gave them license to completely abandon all reason and logic.

Here are the most simultaneously awesome and baffling …
