The $27,000 Magic Card

Magic: The Gathering was my favorite game I was never allowed to play as a kid, and started my love of CCGs that persists to this day.

That said, it’s hard to imagine loving it so much that a single card would be worth paying $27,000 for. That’s how much the Alpha Black Lotus above cost when it was purchased by a collector. Is it just that damn good? Moreso, it’s just incredibly rare. Only 1100 were printed in 1993, and finding one in great shape is a true rarity.
