That Guy Actor of the Week: Carl Lumbly
Don’t you love it when you see a guy in some random movie from 1990 only to see his face pop up more and more over the years? I first saw Carl Lumbly as a perspective tenant in the movie Pacific Heights.
He had a very small role in that movie but has a quality that for some reason stuck with me. And ever since that time I’ve seen Lumbly pop up from time to time in a movie or a television show. He had a pretty nice run in the 90s and now he’s doing mostly television.
Personally I liked him best in the movie Men of Honor. He also does a lot of voice over work. Here’s to you Carl.

He definitely has a cool voice.
Bulldog!
M.A.N.T.I.S.‽
DIXON! I miss Alias.
The scene between Dixon and Sydney where he finds out the truth about SD6 is still one of the best acting moments on TV for me.
This is the SECOND time in two months I’ve seen a “let’s honor Carl Lumbly as an awesome THAT GUY!” piece that COMPLETELY misses the role he’ll likely be most remembered for; J’Onn J’Onnz, the Martian Manhunter. Even people who’ve never seen Carl’s face know his voice.
