Slate’s Wes Anderson Bingo
It’s strange, really. I can’t think of another filmmaker who follows such a seemingly cookie-cutter mold and each every time they make a film, yet still manages to create movies that feel fresh, creative and different from one another.
Slate points this out with their “Wes Anderson Bingo Card” released alongside The Grand Budapest Hotel, and really, Anderson does reuse many, many elements in his catalog of films. And yet, we don’t care. The formula works, and the man rarely misses with his movies.
I have yet to see The Grand Budapest Hotel, but when I do, I imagine I will feel pleasently mirthful for the duration, as I always do.
