Punching Women While Dressed As A Grizzly: Six Wonderfully Insane Nic Cage Moments (With Clips!)
Iguanas in Bad Lieutenant 2: Port of Call New Orleans
I do this with Casey Anthony every time I see her, just to mess with her head.
At this point in his career, producers know, and Nic Cage knows, that he is pretty much to go-to guy if you need some insane shit done, or a REALLY unnatural line of dialogue delivered. And more and more casting agents are shockingly casting Nic Cage in movies he SHOULD be in. Movies like Bad Lieutenant 2. You would not think Nic Cage could EVER fill Harvey Keitel’s shoes from the original, yet this sequel gets it right, honestly. Not quite as dark, and using that “bad” side a little bit more for laughs, the movie somehow strikes an insane balance and actually works.
And the best part? They let Cage be Cage, as seen here with the iguana scene.

I have spent many a night bugging out looking at lizards, so I get this. I really do. And if this doesn’t make you want to watch this film, well, phooey on you. You’re missing a wild ride, and this time, Cage plays Mr.Toad.
Kill Scene in Kickass
Again, I know this pic doesn’t fit here, but have you EVER seen a hunkier Cage? Either has he.
Um, spoiler alert?
Well, for those not in the know, Nic Cage’s Big Daddy character meets a pretty bad end in the original Kickass, and though he had Nic Cage’d the character all up (though slightly down playing the non-uniformed version), there is no single scene in the movie that is more Nic Cage then when he is tied to a chair, burning alive, and screaming directions to his daughter about how to maintain her cool and take out all these bad guys, while his voice raises higher and higher from burning. It is sick, dark, and somehow campy, too. In other words, ALL Nic Cage.

You can all rag on Nic Cage all you want, and say he didn’t fit the role, and so on and so forth, but it was a super intense scene, and it was a scene dictated entirely by Nic Cage’s raising voice, screaming higher and higher. And No, I have no idea why she didn’t cut him free first, but remember, movie logic. The hero needs something that fills them with enough rage so they can do the formerly impossible, and that is what Big Daddy’s death in this movie was representing.
As The Weird, Greasy Guy in Deadfall
From that time Tony Clifton was played by Nic Cage, ofcourse.
No one saw this film, which featured Cage as a greasy con-man with a very strange drawl. And though he was not in the entirety of the film, he was just fucked up and Nic Cage enough that I can’t forget the role, so here you go, to round this all up, ten minutes of Cage’s batshit insanity from Deadfall.

And there you have it, six SOLID reason why Nic Cage is all but unmatched when it comes to acting certifiably insane and throwing tantrums on film. I didn’t mention Raising Arizona because most of us had no idea Nic Cage would be that way the rest of his career and just figured it was a normal person “acting”. Wow, well played, Cage. You don’t even act anymore. You just show up and do crazy shit, they film you, you collect a check, and you go home. Sort of like the new “old- age Brando.”
Man, who saw THAT coming? Certainly not me.
And remember kids, if you like this drivel, go support me here and here. Thanks, kids!
Been done already dude.
