Popular Search Engines Then and Now
As we approach 2010 all of us are reflecting back on either 2009, the past decade or even the past century. All of us websites, blogs, fan forums, you name it are coming up lists upon lists that explore “the best of,” “the worst of,” in a myriad of topics.
And how are most of us coming up with information on all these topics? Yup, search. That’s right, search engines. But what about search engines themselves? How have these little bad boys evolved in the past ten or fifteen years?
Here’s a look at some of the most popular search engines then and now.

Wow, this brings back some memories. I remember searching on AltaVista and Lycos back in college with my dial-up modem.
You can still see jeeves if you type in http://askjeeves.com instead of just http://ask.com
i remember using alta vista to look up jenny mccarthy pics.
Wow! Yea, this does bring back memories. Didn’t even know some of them still existed since Google has been so dominant.
Some of these sites are stopped or dominated by other bigger sites (like Google 😉 ) and the rest of them are “Powered by Google” hehehehe 😀
The most surviving are Google, Yahoo,Bing(formally MSN) and AOL.
I think it’s quite indicative how little the Google homepage has changed.
